Hi

I am using TZT and want to see the final output, what is the best to use - another pc monitor or a tv? Especially not that I am thinking of getting a scan converter.

thanks in advance.

regards

N

the TZT site is in Japanese - is there anyway to translate this this to english?

How are you eventually going to show your work? On a tv? On a computer monitor? on a projector? I use a regular tv as a monitor but I adjust brightness and contrast to try to mimick a projector. Everything looks great on an lcd computer screen, so be aware that what you see there may not look the same once it's projected.

Some gigs are on projectors and some using flat screen tvs.

At home (when practicing), is a tv as a second monitor the best option to view the visuals output as opposed to a pc monitor?

I made a typo in my last message - I do intend to use a scan converter.

thanks

I spent $60 on the cheapest TV I could find. I spent over $1000 on the best computer monitor I could afford (and that didn't include the computer!)....

If you already have equipment that is available, don't spend any money and use what you got.... But tying up a 2nd computer just to monitor the output of the 1st seems like a waste of a good computer. I'd buy the scanny and a cheapo TV. Put some software on that second computer and double the possibilities in your mix.

yeah i definitely get a scanny it gives you planty of options regardless what computer u use
but one word of warning, dont get suckered into buying a cheap scanny, that route lies tears, your scanny will prolly last you through at least 2 computers, and the scan converter is the crucial link in the chain that determines what yr stuff will look like up on the screen so it is well woth getting at least a mid range one, the difference in quality does really show.
also try and make sure it has adjustable zooming so you can use it with whatever size output the software throws at you.

also on the monitoring side, most scan converters have both composite and svideo outs so you can use the svid to send to the projector and the comp to monitor it

as a cheap portable and fairly robust field monitor i recommend either the playstation or camecube lcd monitors

I intend to use just one computer with one dedicated monitor and a cheap tv to monitor the output.

As for a mid range scanny - what would you recommend, also where can I get these things - all the shops I went into were oblivious to what I was on about (if I went into a butcher and a jewellery shop that would be understandable but a camcorder shop and Maplin !).

Thanks for your information, it is grately appreciated.

i would recommend the vinegen pro from vine micro's i got mine direct from them, i dont know the url offhand but a little time with google should net it for you

as for the gamecube monitors, and indeed all other electronic bits and pieces, cpc.co.uk
tho as skitz says get them to send you a catalogue and their monthly special offer pamphlets cos their wbsites a bit flaky.
if you order by phone dont bother paying the extra for next day delivery, if you order b4 3 oclock it almost always comes next day anyway :)

pls pls dont go to maplins for anything except last minute purchases they are loads more expensive than cpc and their stuff is rubbish

Hi

I can't seem to find a vinegen pro but, what about a CORIOscan Select?

http://www.vinemicros.com/products/cssel2.htm

From what I have read, this should do the trick, just so long as I am not missing anything blatantly obvious about its spec.

thanks

I love my corioscan select, though someone else liked the averkey 500 a bit more. Only problem I've found is that it's mostly remote-controlled, which I haven't really found to be a problem, at least for me. The higher end ones are, well, higher end, but the corio select is the minimum I'd recommend for anyone.

Just a short note to say thanks for all the advise I have received from this forum.

I bought a scan converter (quite an investment - but will pay for itself in 2/3 months of use) it is the absolute dogs testaculars!

It does exactly what I needed which was to get TZT from 320x240 to full screen on a tv/projector AND it also cleans the image up quite significantly.

Thanks again

What about AverKey 300 ?? it is cheaper than Corio

As i see - CORIOscan Select ?299.95 (?255.28+VAT)
It is not cheap! anyway, does it support full overscan ?

go for the corioscan, i bought my first scanconverter a little over a year ago,

at the time the averkey range where what ppl on the eyecandy list seemed to favour ,
my choices where the averkey 500 at about ?300
the avrekey 300 at ?140,
the averkey pro or somesuch budget item at ?100
i bought an averkey 300
within about 2 months i regretted not getting the averkey500
8 months later i upgraded my scanny to a coriogen, again what the online community seemed to favour
i know have a ?140 piece of plastic that isnt even big enuff to use as a doorstop and a ?300 piece of kit i love

make of that what u will
