I have not been Vjing for long but managed to persuade Godskitchen in Birmingham that they needed me to VJ, instead of having some stale tape which they used week in week out. I'm now there every week and getting paid (which took a while!!!)

The thing is I don't know any other VJ who i can talk to and learn from/discuss ideas, tech stuff etc etc.....

If there are any of you around the brum area, events etc could you drop me a message please.

Cheers

there's a few of us about. I'm just starting, and have been going for a few months. still on the look out for gigs though.

I think the synergy boys are from brum, but we'll wait and see who else turns up:rolleyes:

Mornin' all. I'm from the south west side of Brum and concentrate (whenever possible) on working with live bands rather than looking for club work - it means I get to bed earlier!

hehe. Often the same mistake made ;)

we live in Moseley. It's good to hear from more people in Brum, we should all get together at some point soon.

I'm away until April, and Pluxm is away from Mid April, so we should maybe arrange to meet up at the start of April.
There is already talk of doing an event sometime this year, and of putting together proposal for a 2008 city of culture event.

The stuff we do is mostly club sutff, although we've done some other events; beats and breaks, hip-hop, acid jazz stuff mostly at the Medicine Bar. It's good to know you're just across the road at Gods Kitchen Duffer. we have residencies on the last Friday of the month (Shaanti), and the second friday every other month (Magic Bus), so if you need anything let us know; we're also moving to a studio at the Custard Factory (on wednesday :) so will have all our kit down there. If something blows up, we might be able to help you out :)

Talk with Dan about arranging a meet whilst I'm away.

I am just about to start playing live with the VJ thing... at the med bar 18th April, night called pharaoh's groove. also doing some stuff with the myogenic crew - www.myogenic.co.uk - as part of the newly formed Jigsaw collective...
nice to know i'm not the only one doing this in brum, but i'm sure it is growing fast as equipment get's cheaper all the time. it sounds like it might be quite an event if we eventually all get togethor and put something on. might attract some international attention, which is what brum needs, let's face it...
