All right, you're probably wondering what happened with the Trans Global Time Collaboration.
Well, I ended up with two clips.
I can tell you right now what they look like:
APU - Closeup of somebody drumming.
Bassy - Empty station at night.
Now, imagine these combined in any variety of ways. I don't think I need to actually go through the motions of the experiment.
But, we've learned a few things.
1) Bassy and Apu are on top of it.
2) I'm not, I missed the first one. A few other peeps did the same thing I did and got the wrong day.
3) I can set up an FTP server, and this is a decent way to collect clips. Nobody has complained about not being able to upload, and I now have two nice fat clips from Apu and Bassy sitting on there.
4) Like a good party, it takes more than a couple of people to be interesting. Doesn't mean the people aren't interesting themselves, but two people don't make a party.
SO,
Let's try and do another "test" run at 3:03:03 on 03/03/03
If I can get something like 10 clips, it will be a much better way to get a sense of what a really big one would be like.
I'll then try to set up some sort of website that has some useful items like a clock, local time specifications, the "rules of the game" etc.
Perhaps an interesting third run would be to tape some footage after you first hear that a strike on Iraq has been declared. That's for later, but I think it might be interesting.
SO
Set your clocks for 03:03:03 on 03/03/03 GMT. And we'll see what we can do with that. Please try and get some friends in on the action as well. I'd love to have at least 10 clips to do a real test run with.
