This would be my biggest gig to date with a fully rammed Emporium so looking at a crowd of around 2000, so I was definitely looking forward to it with plenty of new content. I was informed it was a 10pm start but the earliest I would be let in would be about 8. What with trying to find the place and a few road diversions, I managed to get there for just before 9... only to discover because it had sold out doors had been brought forwad to 9 and they were opening in ten minutes!

I manged to get my laptop and V4 up in double quick time so there was at least something on the screens and they could open, but plans to run cameras to the DJ booth and a nice smooth set up lay in tatters.

The promoter wasn't in the best of moods in general cos of the stress but a couple of hours into it when Armin van Buuren took to the decks he came up to the booth, apologised and presented me with a cheque which was a refreshing experience compared to most promoters! The next one's in April so hopefully I'll get those cameras sorted properly, and may invest in a new keyboard rack for my equipment, and a light box with my VJ name so I can upstage the DJs!

Big thanks to Steve G for helping me get the gig and continued support, as well as Tizzy my lovely assistant and Jamie at the Emporium for technical help at the last minute.

Yeah, there were loads of full on Cyber Kids - LED costumes, dummies, UV paint and furry boots. It was like Gatecrasher in 2001 all over again!

Mind you the average age was older than I'm used to - lots of late 20's/early 30's - basically people I guess started trancing it up in 1997 and never really stopped.

There's a few regulars well into their 30's and 40's. I've had some great nights there. Offer Jason a......dare I say it... VJ battle with a few of us one night. Be good fun.....must get an LED suit tho :D

Ha ha...how about a multiple VJ performance promoted by the club then. Tell JFK to book now for their 13th;)

I've just emailed JFK so we'll see what he says. You'd need to hire more screens though.

If you had a setup where everyone gets a plasma hung on the balcony directly in front of them and then a seperate out to a switcher and the main screens so we each get a few minutes on them at a time that would be cool.

Maybe have 4 VJs and get the DJ to get the crowd to vote which VJ they want to see more of.
