6071842
26th February 2007, 06:41 PM

RickRobiN
26th February 2007, 07:06 PM
1280x480 jpg 75% (not real hd, but twice 640x480)
cpu usage modul8 around 60 procent. BUT firewire 800 raid0. Without it wouldn't work.. (just bought last minute before the gig the>http://www.lacie.com/nl/products/product.htm?pid=10731
)Love it, even it's only 5400 (the 7200 is hard to get and even more expensive..)

??

This was a showcase of my work, not a regular commercial night

VERSCH takes off as a new evening program featuring the latest developments in electronic music, new media and performance. A showcase of installations, performance, live cinema, VJ-ing, live music, DJ-ing and cross-over.

RickRobiN
26th February 2007, 09:00 PM
photos, video and always AE. (incl trapcode!) Now moving more and more into c4d

Sometimes just playing around with modul8 or vdmxx/grid pro and see what happens...

6071842
26th February 2007, 09:13 PM
yeah i noticed all of those elements! did you have any worries i mean were you using a video mixer in case your laptop crashed.

i was really impressed with the ladies! was that AE?

RickRobiN
26th February 2007, 09:52 PM
laptop crashed.
No crashes.. So no problem. even with gigs of 8 hours non stop.
Sometimes (+-three times a night) just fade to black, the lj can do his thing. So I I have all the time to load a new set. refresh the machine.
And more impact if you join the lj&dj again when a new tune is builing up to his max.

The ladies. which one? Both are particles. Love the randomness of it.

6071842
26th February 2007, 10:00 PM
good to hear you had no crashes. the woman or the women that i liked are the first in the video that crop up. there are loads of them and all 3-d. thank god for particular! all in all nice work man!

RickRobiN
26th February 2007, 10:24 PM
thanks :)
btw my favourite particle >http://video2000.activedomain.nl/rickrobin/WEBSITE/MOVIE/massdance.mov

i like this! did you make this one? ive been mesing around with particular and have made some cool clips! if i get round to it i'll post em! :-)

RickRobiN
26th February 2007, 11:14 PM
did you make this one?
I make everything (almost 98 procent of my work on stage) Vj-ing with sampled stuff is boring imho
it's like a dj with recordplayers. I prefer the ableton live gigs.
btw, How to do it, a crowd??>

1280x480 jpg 75% (not real hd, but twice 640x480)

you're working on a res of 1280x480?
lowest res i could work with dh2g was 2048 x768 couldn't go less.

how did you manage that ?

in which club/party was you're set?

my first dh2g-gig was at EKKO in utrecht

RickRobiN
26th February 2007, 11:51 PM
my source footage was 1280. Dualhead2go is a just a hardware box, So I just took a setting (maybe 2048?) it is not so important
Like I post before. My set was @ VERSCH, Sugar Factory Amsterdam

Nice to see something the "same"
I prefer a random loop between the dancers instead the same one. Somehow the particle is making is own choreography with picking random parts of the clip.
It's more like nature, fraktals, randomness and new patterns etc then just a vj "loop"

btw c4d= cinema 4d.

totally agree.
that and the number (of girls) make all the difference.

nice pics.

checking the video now.

looks very impressive. I'm betting you got great responses from the crowds.

wicked video. whats your process for making this stuff live? you mentioned it s 98% done on stage.

RickRobiN

number (of girls)
Yep. My girlfriend x 20000 :)

wicked video. whats your process for making this stuff live? you mentioned it s 98% done on stage.

98 procent I mix is my own footage, still three clips I "found" are in my library. 1 motiondive and two really cool clips from brasil..

My process? Just do what you think you have to do. I somehow give the credits to oxygen  . Saw some danceclips long time ago (2003/4?) on her site and inspired me to work also with dance.
My way of working; Just give the dancer a small concept and bring on a good tune on the stereo . And if the dancer is good , she will bring it to a higher level.

RickRobiN
28th February 2007, 04:29 AM
macbook pro 2.16 2 gig ram ( and a g5 imac, but I want to sell this one after this gig. really over-age, tooo slow...)

and off course the little big disk from la cie.

pfff deadlines, no sleep 2 day for me...

(btw respect to vjforums, REALLY!, once I was just a photographer, Then I started to vj, found vjforums, and now I am a pro motiondesigner)
