Im working on an video for "54 Cymru beats" by Aphex twin. If im gunna post it on the internet do I need to get permission or do I just need to credit him?

i'd maybe get permission it would be safer all around but im a little unsure about the law. whens the vid going to be ready?

Not for a while yet. its not going to be nothing special anyway. im still a noob!

To get permission would it be Ok to message him direct through something like myspace ro would i have to get in contact with his record company?

if you can get a hold of aphex let me know! hes notoriously hard to contact. theres loads and loads of bootleg videos on the internet, if you're just gonna put it on your myspace or on youtube or something then im sure you'll be fine. the only reason they might get arsey is if you start entering it in festivals and competitions or earning anything from it. technically you might be breaking the law but you're making them a free video and promoting it for them, i seriously doubt they'd complain, unless the content of the video is seriously at odds with aphex or warp's ideas.

Aphex wouldnt be in a position to give you permission anyway, more likely his record label owns the rights to it, and I don't think they will give permission, as its a legal hassle for them...
