Hi,
As some of you are aware this summer marks my 25th
anniversary of VJing ...
Aside frome some brief hiatuses to work on other
projects I have been VJing continuously since 1978...
So it is a great opportunity to do something special
...
Already I have been invited to do some
Presentations/Forums at a couple of Trade shows on the
subject of `The History, Evolution & Future of Event
Video'...
But I am also starting to plan some shows that use
this presentation as a basis but are a lot less dry &
a lot more fun!
Plus, this is an opportunity to share the spotlight
with the whole VJ community that has exploded over the
last quarter century...
I have a substantial amount of my presentation sorted
but I wanted to open up to some other suggestions from
other VJs/Visualistas to get an idea of what you all
might want to see... After all I will be representing
(& entertaining) a whole community...
So please, don't be shy... send me your suggestions &
feedback...
Of course, the key component would be a well worked
out live VJ set with a DJ -
How exotic the front-end tech will be depends on the
scale of the particular event & venue .... but whether
I am using a couple of old school video projectors or
an immersive system featuring Catalysts & Transscreens
I have the experience & content to knock the socks off
of any crowd...
I am also working on an opening A/V `soundsystem'
style set featuring the EJ system, but instead of
using music videos I will be working with audio loops
tied to video tracks...
Video Art Installation -
25 years of futurist Psychedelia
An expanded version of the 4 screen chronological
retrospective show I put together 2 years
ago showing the History of VJ techniques &
technologies featuring a retrospective of own work +
It will now also highlight (Depending on who I can
track down to give me clearance) some rarely seen
classic clips from my extensive collection of mixtapes
created by other influential VJs & crews (Many now
sadly defunct)...
I never get a chance to show this stuff in public so
it will be quite a treat ...
all works will be I.D'd with name of creator & the
year it was done....
A Catalog will note the tech used in each piece...
Still Art Gallery:
I have a huge collection of my VJ related Art &
large scale transparencies of other examples of my
production art (Source paintings/Projected
scenery/electronic decor) etc
I am also planning a storyboard gallery covering my
musicvideo work + an exhibit of `VJ rigs through the
ages' with layouts of different rigs that I have used
since the 70's
VJ theater;
Video Theater showing the unacknowleged influence of
VJ cuture on advertising, design, broadcast TV &
mainstream media in general... As well as My own (&
other) VJ produced music videos & other
ambient/experimental stuff that might not work in the
main area...
I am also deep into working on a companion
retrospective Mix-Video, but distribution is up in the
air at the moment...
So if anyone has any ideas of other elements they
would like to see or think should be represented, I
would be open to other VJ perspectives &
suggestions....
Looking forward to your feedback...
Stefan
