Are there any web based servies which match freelance people with different skills to people who need those skills?

So sort of like an agency but for individual jobs.

eg say I am a 3D modeller, I register myself there along with a synopsis of my skills, rates etc.

Someone else who has a project on the go requires a 3D model of a giant ultraviolet turnip, so posts their requirements and those who can then provide this do a deal?

All features youd expect/require are handled by the site.

So does this exist, if not should I try it?

hepp elbows,
in germany i think we had sth similar. You did not sell your "work", but you'd sell an idea. For example:" I know how to get the red wine out of any carpet!" If someone now came along and wanted to know how that will work you had to pay an amount aof Money. eg 2?.

I think the URL was www.hurra.de (site is still alive btw)

have fun by starting your start up ;)

@aether
elbows addressed the idea of a web based virtual project development/management, not selling ideas itself.

@elbows
webased freelance activities devlopment mite work
to a limited amount if specifications are tight.
the bigger the project gets, the more coordination
it needs, the worse it gets ;)

but y not give it a try, if u got the time?!?
