Just to clarify, not for me but for others. The club night is a non-paid trial run for selection for the paying summer festival?

30 seconds... thats not even the hookline of an average techno track. let alone progressive trance.

I email'd nic last night and received a better explanation on his idea's and side of things. I've highlighted the 30 sec thing and the fact it's outragous to expect VJ's to perform at an event large enough to be held in the SEOne, unpaid.
Hopefully Nic will reply to this here and post the explanation I received from him. I feel it should come from him in full, however, in short he did not expect VJ's outside of London to be applying, the night will have other paid VJ's working, who have been booked and he will consider travel expenses for any VJ who is chosen. In addition he will request showreels should he think the 30sec clips are what he's after.
The festival was not named.
Lets see ;)

Ok.
Lets try again.
Sorry if I have given the wrong impression.
We are looking for vjs to perform at the 070707 Electronic Music Festival (www.antiworld070707.com). It is a paid gig. It will consists of six stages of psytrance, hard dance, techno, breaks, progressive, and chill out. We are currently looking at what styles of visuals would suit the different styles of music.
When I said 2 x30 seconds clips what I meant is something short, effective and representative of your style, because as much as we would love to, we are not be able to look at 100s of showreels.
So anything that represents your work succinctly: clips, or via website links etc. etc.
Once we have seen something that we think might work on one of the stages we will then ask for a showreel to get a fuller idea of your work.
The 3rd of feb is just a way to meet and have a beer - we have already covered all VJ slots but if you would like to bring a laptop we will obviously not say no to an hour of you playing if there is room (depends on how many people would turn up).
Unfortunately we would not be able to pay anybody for this one but we would be able to offer guest list.
I hope this would clear any misunderstanding and I am looking forward to seeing your work and meeting some of you soon.
Thanks Nic

Ok we realise this 30sec idea was a stupid one. How about keeping it under 10min if poss? Sorry for been a wuss johnnylocust but recently, we've been receiving showreels that are 20min to 1hr that we didn’t feel the need to be that long.
We have a number of projects on the go, one of them is our first DVD for our record label (frolic productions, find samples on
I Tune podcast by searching frolicproductions) which has been a real hard one for us but we’re now very happy with the result.
In the next few weeks we will get on to the festival Installation ideas and we would most certainly be happy to look at the material that has been sent.
We would definitely consider artists from UK and Europe; as much as we would love to, we doubt we could afford to bring people from outside of Europe but if you’re already here get in touch.
