Mike here from D-Fuse ...interesting thread about us and koyaanisqatsi.... I don't really know where to begin to explain.

OK, firstly we 're disappointed that some people didn't enjoy our sets, D-Fuse did 2, first one was a 20 minute set with live sax, second was 'Koyaanisqatsi' remix with Biz .Maybe it was the music not being to everyones taste, maybe the sitting aspect or maybe people not understanding what we showed, I hope I can do this here. Anyway, I am sorry some people didn't enjoy the night. We really wanted to create something suited to the setting, when we did this show at the ICA, people then complained about no seating. BTW I personally really like Biz's music, especially compared to what music I heard at the Netmage VJ festival, biz is positively 'easy listening' :-)

I should explain about the film ('DJ Anyone' was right :-) .... see i do look sometimes check the site out, I just wish I could type better). We did specially make this piece specially for the OneDotZero/ Halloween. We choose this film because it has so much influence subliminally and surprisingly how few people know about it (even one of the posts here didn't know the film!), we also feel it is a dated film that is quite badly cut and way too long. For us this was not just a simple screening of the film. We edited the film down to 1 hour (probably still too long), then made 5 modified versions all with different treatments, there was no easy route and this took over 6 weeks to edit. The film ends the same as the beginning, so on one version we reversed the film and speeded to a 10 minute movie. We then projected this off 2-3 Data projectors through a set of 30 'layered' transparent screens, which normally takes 2 people 5-6 hours to set up. This is also accompanied by graphic slides. The music (for the ICA and Barcelona) was also completely restructured and recreated by spanish electronic musician Fibla (sub rosa), The music is amazing a sort of 'Boards of Canada vs Philip Glass'

Also, I think some people may have missed the other point the film, this is about mass destruction of the earth, we feel very uneasy about world events and find this appropriate to show. We thought generally there was good response and people complimented us after the set.

Hope this helps explain
regards
mike (D-Fuse)

PS If any one feels inclined (even if you disagree with our work)...... the "Mixmasters" DVD, has been nominated for Best Music DVD. This is the strongest way to show our support to VJ scene, a VJ DVD in the mainstream, Addicitve TV are really doing a good job of putting VJ Culture on the map. If you'd like to vote, click on this link http://dancestar.nextnm.com/usa2003/vote.html then click on "NEXT" until you get to the "Best Music DVD" section, where you'll find the nomination.
