sorry but can't post in the correct forum...
The UK Sex Discrimination Act (SDA) 1975 makes discrimination on the grounds of sex or marriage unlawful.

steady on....
women and men are equal under the law.
its not ok to advertise a job as no blacks or no cripples and its equally not ok to advertise a job as women only...
by all means have a women only VJ gig but please don't advertise it in the jobs section as it is against the law.

okay. i have no respect for the law. i cant expect you to agree with that. i disagree with what you are trying to do. i am sorry for being insulting. it was a gut reaction. i apologise.

errr.... but what am I trying to do, other than point out that it is wrong to discriminate on the grounds of gender when offering work?.

nothing other than that. i just beleive that the law is incidental to personal morality. so i dont think that you only put that up because you stop the law being broken wherever you see it. do commit citizens arrests in clubs on people who are taking drugs? no? then why stick your special cuntstable's hat on now?

once upon a time, Europe's largest women only club had a male VJ - deepvisual - mainly because there were no competant female VJs back then. So I have no problem with women only nights
I really don't care if someone is organising a horses only club night.
but if you offer a cracked copy of a program on this board you'll get hell for it.
so why should the people on this board do nothing about blatant sexual discrimination in a job post?

i think we should remove this post (http://www.vjforums.com/showthread.php?t=18835) for sexual discrimination!

firstly it is not an offer of a "Job" - they are not offering employment and therefor are not subject to the Sex Discrimination Act 1975.
secondly don't be a cock :) surly it's reasonable for an all girl act to look for a female VJ to join them?
there is enough serious discrimination in the world to go and fight if you want to, having a go for the sake of it is a bit lame imho...

maybe I'm just old fashioned.
I come from a time when there were no laws against discrimination.
- I remember seeing blatant discrimination in my youth and then it was considered normal - in fact you would get hounded for standing up against it.
anyway, I seem to be in a minority of one.
so lets forget it.
