Not really VJ tool but reactive sound visualization software. In case you got videocard like nVidia 7800GT and higher or ATI 1800 and higher along with DirectX 9.0c check it out at http://www.exsotron.com/

Interesting visualiser.
It runs fine on 2x Radeon X1600XT's in Crossfire mode.

ATI Just released X1650XT for $149. That thing has 24 Pixel Shaders and should run this vis just fine singlehandedly. Good cards are getting cheaper

2 old cards running in crossfire = 24 pixel shaders = does the job = don't waste money upgrading when what you have does just fine = larger user base = why am I bothering.

I did not mean for you to upgrade. Just discovered that card and decided to mention it in case someone else is interested

interresting but runs too slow on my 7800 GTX..
so: not feasible for a music visual.
26fps is so 90's...
optimize your code...!

Well aren't you a little ray of sunshine? I think there's a little more going on under the hood of ExVis than you're aware of.

well, as a texgen i'd love it!
but for a music vis it should have higher framerate.. :)
also for the fact that it looks like a standard-issue geiss/smear/whatever-the-name-of-the-identical-effect-being-reimplemented-100-times pixel feedback distortion effect but with dynamic texcoords and with some lighting. (2 layers of these as well with alpha-blending and a background)
strange thing is when you turn off lighting and foreground it still runs at 19-26fps. it really shouldn't when it's just rendering a texture..
so it could be improved somewhat :)

it does 30 on my 7800GT/ the speed is limited artificially. all code is executed on GPU and there is nothing to optimize

it has one Geiss layer. The other 3 are GPU based texture generators. If you did not notice it then you probably took few seconds look at it and then threw it away

It not just rendering to texture there are 3 layers that generate textures and are heavy. FPS is artificially limited to 30. Anyways when FPS is unlimited and lighting is off it does 80FPS on 3 layers and about 120-150FPS 2 layers on my 7800GT

Bo! ExVis reminds me of being inside a yellow space whales guts!
Where do I look to find out how to make a standard issue Geiss layer?
I want to implement it in HLSL!
Actually I want someone else to implement in HLSL.
Where are your favourite generative visuals resources?
I like www.dataisnature.com and generatorx.no but thats because they are aimed at making generative accessable to nincompoops are lollygaggers like me.
Where do the hardcore compgenvisnuts go for their digital breakfast?
Where do they publish HLSL code I can repurpose for my evil gantz graf realtime approximations?

ROFL. You made my day:lol2:

Preset writing interface is not exposed. If you did not see Geiss like layer you probably using "light mode" switch to regular and you'll see it. You can also get latest build from my website. That version cycles modes when set on highest level.

I dunno man. I write my own shaders. I stumbled upon generatorx long time ago. To my taste the mages they have on their website are boring, but oh well I am biased :wink:

ah, good. so, could you make the fps limit an option?

Why? You have your own nice vis to play with anyways;)

nevermind, found it.. you've coded your stuff in ze delphi so it's all in the dfm!
object acLimitFrameRate: TAction
GroupIndex = 1004
Hint = 'Limit Frame Rate'
ImageIndex = 7
ShortCut = 16466
OnExecute = acLimitFrameRateExecute
end
looks a lot nicer and more responsive to the music with the limiter turned off :)
I like it a lot now!

Hmm. I am not particularly concerned about you finding it but posting it on Internet is not what I would call gentleman's behavior. Anyways if you download new release from my website you might like it even better.
