View Full Version : VJ'S needed for online streaming station

hi,
At the moment, im not able to give out the name, as the management wish to keep it under wraps, but i have been asked to help organise a collection of VJ's and visual artists to provide visual content for a well established, award winning, internet radio station which has listeners all over the world.
We are interested in both pre-recorded and live content to go along side the shows - it will most likely work that people will be assigned specific shows to work with, so that a raport can be built up with the relevant DJ's and the visuals can be as suited towards that show as much as possible.
Like most, if not all, internet radio stations, it will be unpaid (which is the same as the DJ's on the station), but it will give you global exposure, and could also give the station and DJ's on it a pool of talent to dip in to for live events as well as giving you the chance to get yourself better known to DJ's and event organisers which can often,in my experience, lead to paid work.
If you are interested, we will need to see a demo / showreel. All applications are welcome, we are not just after "superstar VJ's" . if you feel you are up to it,you can either post links here or if you dont have a demo online, i can provide a UK postal address for you.
Thanks.
VJ Air.

Sure I'd love to have a play. not di.fm is it :) my fave radio station.
By the way - what style of music is it.
I'll need to know licensing information, and how they intend to go about protecting out content.

content protection is an important part of it to me, as i will be using a lot of original content on it myself.
we shall probabaly do something like put a semi transparent logo for the station over an area of the screen, so as not to distract from the graphics too much, but to make it obvious where its come from should anybody be cheeky enough to try and use it!
all copyright will remain with the originator of the content (ie you if you made it or the person / organisation it came from if its not your own content) - you wont be giving it to the station. the management of the station are label owners and musical producers themselves, so appreciate that an artist would wishe to retain the rights to their work.
you will also still retain the right to use it where ever you want, you wont be limited to using it just on the station once its been on there.
basicly, anything shown on there stays as much yours as it was before it went on there.
no, its not di.fm (i dont know this station so i shall check it out :) )
the main genre is breakbeat, although some shows do venture either side of this style, sometimes some hip-hop, dubstep, d&b...
(anyone who thinks they know which station it is by my associations with online stations should not automatically assume which site it is, as they will most likely be wrong)

hey aaron (is that the right spelling, can never remember?)
im soo tempted to make a guess at the station but i'll restrain myself
should i have heard about this from simian sounds?
we were actually talking to jack about us doing some video mixes for some of their live or recorded radio shows the other week, its a briliant idea if they've got the bandwidth...
anyway, we'd definitely be up for it, for simian, but also for anyone else on the station, would love to hook up with whoevers playing the dubstep, that'd be fun.
anyway, if you havent already, check out the clips on www.fatamorgana.org.uk
hope to hear from you soon

ez fata alex, i cant comment on which station it is at the moment, but its not the one you are thinking of, they dont have the bandwidth to do it.
to everyone else, im liking what ive seen from all of you so far. any final decisions are down to the station management, but i have input on it. if it were soley down to me , id take everyone that has so far emailed me or replied here.

wondering if flash media server is going to be the best solution - copy protection wise and in terms of streaming nicely.
I'll get some bits and pieces uploaded to my website soonish. Love dem breaks.

Hi
I think it would be fun to try...
http://www.cubensisproject.com/showreel.html
you might find interesting the fourth clip (it?s a long one), but also the fifth and sixth. the other clips are more about the technology involved.
some of the material we use is not our own. but we make our own software so maybe that evens it out somehow :p
contact info is on the webpage. thanks, and good luck!

just to let you all know, original content isnt a must, although obviously the more unique the better, but obviously the station owners would rather not have copyright probs on their hands :)
