Hi!
I am from Amsterdam, The Netherlands and I just get started being a VJ.
Can you help me with that?
What hardware do I need? (i have already a pentium4 1,5GH 256mb laptop, a good beamer, projection screen, an extra monitor, a little TV, 3 videorecorders, 1 dvdplayer)
What software do I need?
(I have only experience with premiere, photoshop and flash
:( )
Thankx!
Ren?

looks like for hardware all you'd really need is a video mixer (goto www.vjcentral.com for info)
you'll have to try some different softs and see what floats your boat...check whats hot on vjcentral too

one of the reasons I'm partial to Arkaos is the fact that it allows you to play SWFs, MOVs, AVIs, JPGs (and BMPs I think) its very easy to set up and use. Also, check out Resolume, nearly as easy to setup (altho I have problems getting MIDI to work as I'd like it, sorta hit 'n miss right now) and offers more control than Arkaos, it doesn't however support SWFs as far as I know, correct me if I'm wrong ppl... anyhow, there has also been some good words about TZT... altho its a foreign software, so the tutorial is as good as you're going to get as far as a manual (the tutorial is excellent tho) those are my suggestions as far as clip players/triggerers go... anything else, check the software reviews on VJCentral. sounds like you're nearly there man... welcome to the community :)

ok reneboer look around on marktplaats.nl for a mixer, if your not sure about n item send me a mail, offer about 100 to 125 in first instance (renting a mixer will cost you half for just one evening and you don't learn...
lend or buy something with midi nobs and sliders.......
get some vj software to fiddle about.... just try all the demos
last stick around

hee ik heb het gezien ja! veel aanbieders van videomixers op marktplaats.nl wonen ook in Amsterdam zoals ik, dus dat komt mooi uit. Ik ga ff alle hardwarereviews doorwerken en bedenken welke ik koop.
Groet,
Ren?
