i'm just starting out with this VJ thing. I'm running a G4 laptop. What software and outboard gear should I use? Accessories included... Mostly for live performances.

I want to know what the good stuff is I should get, without being extremely expensive. But also without loosing quality. Thanks a lot.

Most of the hardware reviews cover what they do or are self explanetory (eg. cameras). Check the what is a scan converter and you should be right from there with an enquiring mind, remember nothing teaches you better than your own self initiated research, if you find a term your not sure about, look it up, there are some great glossary links in the Link section on VJC.

As for what you need, that depends on the job (what sort show your doing) and the way you want to do it, as you encounter challenges you will learn and grow.

ah yes... if only quality gear were cheap! you either pick one side or the other... I'd budget at least 250 bux for a scan convertor (unless you find a good one cheap online) nothing less than 1200 lumens on a projector. get as much mixer as you can afford... check out the Edirol V-4 that should be released w/in a month or so... your selection of gear will vary past this point as to fit your style... the best way to learn is to do, so DO and see what you learn... see what you like, and what you need... go from there
you can buy gear forever... get crackin' and edit some video (or render, or create some presets, go film stuff, etc, etc, etc)
