hi y'all!
i have a question that i hope one of you can answer, or at least can tell me where i can find the answer. it's like this: some friends of mine have band and asked me to make a videoclip for them, intended for (inter)national TV. now is my question: what objective qualities should a professional viedoclip have? i mean which resolution etc...
i hope someone can help me out!

for PAL
768x576 pixles
Interlaced
Uncompressed 24 bit
(sometimes DV is accepted as ok for broadcast - but its not real broadcast quality)

thx for the info! sorry for the late reply btw...
now i have some other questions: i plan to make most of it in flash. should i use those dimensions or is it be better to work bigger so that i don't have any quality-loss when i bring it to say Premiere or Aftereffects? And concerning the frames/second: will 24 do the trick or should i just try and experiment?
sorry for all the hassle guys!

for flash work at 768x576 and export uncompressed video or a seqence of tif files from flash (converting swf to video is a right pain)
use 25 fps
(you could arguably get better motion smoothness from working at 50 fps and exporting a tif seqence from flash - then import the tif sequence into after effects and convert to interlaced video at 25 fps)

Would it help to use Quicktime Pro to export from swf?

Go to www.flashants.com they make a cracking little app ($70) that converts SWfs into AVIs of very high quality (and filesize!!) The results are stunning! its called SWF2Video

I find quicktime with JPEG 90% compression (not motion JPEG mind you) more than satisfactory for broadcast material.
Even with my glasses on I can't see any difference to uncompressed and it works out to 80 mb per minute (without audio) meaning my humble system can play it back realtime. I dont have a fancy DVR at my disposal so this is a big plus for me.
