Hi guys.

Im currently looking into getting sponsorship from various sources in my reigion for my vjing.

Who out there has sponsorship and what do you do to give value to your sponsors in order to recive goods, products, info etc etc?

I currently do visuals for an hour a week on Juice tv in NZ. THis is a music show where I do a live mix with a dj in the studio.
I have the ability to put all my sponsors logos onto the tv and alos have credits rolling at the end highlighting my sponsors again.
Tomorrow I have an interview with a national music mag which is going to be a double page feature for Innersound (http://www.juicetv.com/shows/innersound.html) which is the show I vj on and they are looking at doing one of the 2 pages about me . :sign:

I have 1 person on board so far as a sponsor who does hand painted clothing. Hes doing a one off for me today so I can wear it on the photo shoot tomorrow. His website is Involved (http://www.involved.co.nz/)

What would this be worth to a sponsor?

Thanks for your help guys

Matt

I'd say I'm part sponsored hookturn, and for occasional assistance only. Pioneer, Space-Tek and MixMash are the 3 companies who have been decent enough to support me and the scene. It took time to get these sponsors interested but all support me well now. I am lucky enough to be involved occasionally with Pioneer on equipment launches and they support me with some equipment now and again if required. MixMash support me with commercial DVD discs and Space-Tek with DVJ/CDJ stands.

It's just a case of writting, emailing and trying to offer those companies you have approached something in return. It's a 2 way thing and you have to be prepared to assist with promotion and your support should they require it.

Keep at it.

Mostly VJs I think are only partly sponsored and that is buy a related kit manufacturer. They receive a Pioneer desk or Edirol or Hippotizer for cheap/free/hire.

I doubt (I don’t know of any) that any have long term sponsors to anything also.

Doing a contract of corporate work is different to sponsorship.

I suppose any advertising would do for you rather than sponsorship.

Hookturn you are probably in a better position than most here. Why not talk to your TV companies advertising department?

Let them do the running for you.

Offer them a share of the profits. It is an additional revenue stream for these people.

Also I would check to see if you can have sponsorship/advertising on your TV show first. TV companies, I image, would be strict on this.

Other than that get information together about what you can offer people. How big is your weekly audience? What is the viewing demographic (Young male 18-25), etc.

Advertisers more so than sponsors want to know these things but have all the information ready for this for either.
