Hi Folks,

I have a laptop that I Vj with. It is a compaq laptop with an ATI video card with s-video out. My problem is the laptop software (windows xp) will only allow me to enable the video out if I have it plugged into an s-video device. So I have to bring my DV camera with s-video input - to all my gigs just to enable the video out function. After detection I usually swap the s-video cable out with an s-video to composite adaptor.

Can I trick my laptop into detecting an s-video input device? When I use a s-video to composite adaptor to try and enable the video out it does not recognize it.

any help would be appreciated

thanks

yeah I get the same problem on my ati graphics box which I rarely use at gigs. Try re-installing hydravision that worked for me on the weekend. But you should be able to just have the s-video out lead connected to any recieving device to get it to work. Shouldn't need to plug into your camera.

Same story here. I usually connect my lappy with the beamer/mixer at first and boot it later.

for ATI graphics cards use the omega drivers - they have a checkbox for "always detect my TV" so it sees the TV even when it is not plugged in.
