apologies if it's already available - i can't find it though...

.. but it'd seem essential that such a big forum should have feeds available so people can subscribe to topics, comments, overall? - just keep up to date with it more easily....

any plans for it?

there are rss feeds already - they don't work very well though because we are stuck using vbulletin which is a shitty forum software (grrr i hate things that are not opensource - they are always so slow to develop stuff like syndication support)

Vanilla or something is a good example of a good forum software thingy.

awesome thanks sleepytom :- )
added, subscribed... much better :- )

and yeah, even just having that link easily visible somewhere on the site would be a good move ...

I don't want to advertise the RSS feature until it actually is a useful usable way of syndicating content - currently the RSS only outputs the first post in the thread rather than being upto date with the latest content added to the site. this makes it utterly useless IMHO

as i've said before the closed nature of VBulletin is the real issue here - I'm unwilling to do any work on creating a real RSS feed for vbulletin as it would be only of benefit to licenced users who pay a lot of money to the vB developers who in turn should make the inbuilt RSS (which is even worse than the fps_external that we use) work properly.

PHPBB for example has great RSS support in both directions, as do many other opensource forum systems - however VJForums is locked into vB for the moment at least (i know that rovastar is very resistant to changing to anything else)

My real hope for the future (if any php genius is reading this and wants to help ;)) is that the forum functionality of Drupal is improved to the point where it is a usable replacement for large forums like VJF - this would make it dead simple to move to VJCentral 3.x (which will be drupal based) and have a fully integrated forum system
