the graphics cards i see in laptop systems are 8mb or 16mb.. is it different to pc cards- being 64 -128mb+? if its no different surely they would sux0? Can you get beefy graphics cards for laptop?
I was wandering about dual screen with laptop. My application is to bring the laptop home to my workstation, where there is a monitor. Can I use it as an independant monitor? (as in-not a clone)
Laptops dont have pci slots? so how do you get a firewire/usb slot?
What do YOU use USB for? have you used usb2 yet? or firewire2?

hmmmm I think you can get ones with like geforce cards and that.
yes all laptops that have 98 and higher can have the VGA out set as a second desktop (not clone)
I have 2usb on board and a PCMCIA 2port firewire card

As far as laptops go, i would reccomend a top of the line dell inspirion 8100 or a top toshiba.
these models are available with either a Gf2go, GeForce4 go, or the ati mobility 7000m graphics chipsets.
any of these would be ok, personally for me laptops are shockingly slow and almost unusable when i compare them to my desktop.
it mostly depends on weather your a video based person or a 3d based person i think.
but definetly go for as many firewire and usb(2) ports as possible.
morph: what kind of laptop(s) do you have/use?
