wow! looks like it was a grand ole time. where was this and when? sorry if I'm out of the loop, haven't been paying attention to events recently. The hex screens look tight! I like the arrangement. How many stages were there? This looks like it was a good place to be that night.

there was the IUA main room,(the hexxy room) the ID spiral room(with the 3 hanging screens and all that string art visuals by Frolic) and a chill out room(small world stage) were the acoustical performance took place..
But, as the pics might tell, there were loads more of the visual delights thruout the party.
Big Shouts to the synergy center and the London psy-trance scene!
They certainly know how to put the love into what they do!

Is it perminent or rigged for the night? If so, how long and how many people to set up? Looks great.

heres another hexagon type installation inside-us-all just did at the same venue on 3rd of March, which looks like it may have topped it, unfortunately it doesn't all fit in the photo (it was symetrical). Big up Calve & Ralph who did this one in my absence.. And thanks Pesh for the photo & all his efforts, and also Roger [eskatonia] & Dave Arc-I.. wish I was there!

hehe, yep hexagonalism is on the rise:)
I don't mean just the screen and VJ setup, but the luv that an event like this has in terms of sooo many peeps creating a space that is a pure visual orgasm..big ups to all involved, and for the synergy project in making it possible.
Alan-
we were in the seOne for almost 24 hrs setting up/tearing down for that one, and left the ole seOne just as we found it...black and cold..
Dave-
I left that one pic you posted out because it has been posted a couple time on the forums, but yea that one is brilliant.
also the show calv and ralph did looks tits too;) did you have a seperate hex mask for the 2 side hexagons?
Can't wait to see what the next show looks like!!
is there any other hexagonalist using honeycomb hexxy screen setups? if so please show us! (I love beeing a bee, and coming home to the hexxy;))

most of those visual screens you see are be projected by oil lamp beamers thanks to bubblevision and pesh:kiss:
The IUA room had almost 50 different screens/projection surfaces that night!
altogether tho, there was about 10 video beamers used..:hippy:

A cluster of the hexagons are covered with one projector, using freeframe effects we can position multiple outputs onto each hexagon.
did you have a seperate hex mask for the 2 side hexagons?
No with the new custom hex masks we can support up to 10 hexagons in a cluster, with position and size independantly programmed on site, which makes alignment a bit less difficult than before :)

the hex layouts patterns are also available in Quartonian Mixer since version 0.45
at the moment it's limited to up to six screens with seperate controllable circle or hex masks and adjustable positioning. We managed to perfectly line up the output from Resolume with daves hexmask freeframe plugin and the Quartonian Mixer making for some really nice mixing possibilities. The version I used on friday is tweaked a bit over the last public version, I'll try and do a new release soon.
I propose a name for this technique being "cluster fu*k" screens where * can be n or c depending on your state of mind.

it's really cool seeing hexagonalism on the move! Big ups Dave and Roger!!:drums:
looking forward to the next roll out Dave!
now...how can we get octagons to fit together???Just kiddin;)
I made a number of hexxy mix variations with Daves 1.7 plugs, but can't seem to find where they are at the moment, but here (http://www.spacedub.org/pixy/ResoMix-2005-12-12-19-27-36.avi) is one of the earlier hexxy mixes I made..

the 3rd of March pic was from the Twisted Records 10th Birthday party,
the rest of the pictures can be seen here

we started fitting up at 11am with myself, Ralph, Calve and Dan the pirate, and were pretty much done installation wise by about 7, with lots of computer fiddling up until the doors opened at 9ish.
i also had a really good time playing with Rogers Quartonian mixer, i picked up how it worked in couple of minutes at 3am while unable to get my eyes to look in the same direction, so it's pretty intuitive then ;)
Also worth of note are these 2 ladies (whos names escape me) who put on the most mesmerising puppet show using an old OHP, they draw a massive crowd everytime they do a show, and if you ever get the chance to check them out you should:

I was at the Twisted Birthday. It was so rammed i managed to miss loads of people i was looking for (sorry ralph, calve). The Hex screens really are fantastic. I couldnt take my eyes off them when i was in the main room. Big up to all pushing the movement along.
I was wondering if your able to apply your own masks in either Quartonian or
using the Inside ff plugin or is it limited to the circles and hexagons? The application is great but im doing a large multi screen installation for a street festival in a few months and was thinking about having lots of bizarre shaped screens as one of the proposals.

Yeah thats possible, I would need to write a custom plugin for it tho, theres only support for hexagons and circles at the moment :)

bluesi, quartonian mixer can already do user assignable masks...
pm if interested and I can talk to you about your idea and the possibility of customising quartonian for it, sounds very interesting.

thanks man - much appreciatted :)
here you go pixy, here's a couple of pics from the infected gig this weekend, hexalicious! thanks to roger, richie & bruce for being the best crew x :yep:
it was the first time i've used our latest configurable hex plugin at a gig, calve and ralph have used it at the twisted 10 yr anniversary - but i was out the country. I was really pleased with it, it allowed us to position live camera shots of the groups/audience on specific hexagons along with other content, and also spread across clusters ie 4 hex's with group shot, others with video content. We also used Roger's [eskatonia] hex patch for his VAST/Quartonian program which is equally impressive!
hextastic!
