I have the idea of creating 3d content,,,
Red-Blue video its very simple,,, but you need glasses to see it,,,
so i have been reading about and looking on SIRDS o stereograms
some examples here

http://images.google.com/images?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLG,GGLG:2005-32,GGLG:en&q=sirds&sa=N&tab=wi

my idea is to use this way of 2d/3d images invideo,
someone already made it here...

http://www.ixtlan.ru/movie.php

the problem is that the video require a lot of resolution. and i?m not sure
i find very easy yo "see" this kind of images,,, but Les than 10% of the people i know understand it,,,

its a waste of time to use this in a gig ?

takes a minute or so to decipher each still image, so for moving images its kind of useless. once on acid i saw the image in each poster within a few seconds, normally i give up after trying for a few minutes... no i dont think its worth the effort to try

attached picture is prettier than your average SIRDS tho :)
I like rhythm of repetition of image when vjing, if you do it like that , who cares if theres an extra hidden image :)

but did you se the text on the atached image ? :P
check de links , there are 2 videos that i can se very clear

i take less than 10 seg to see the image,,, i?m supernatural ? :P

my idea was to create a dvd in ntsc, and to leave it on a 42plasma screen
with videos, on the corner of a gig
someone have to know how too see it,,,, i think :S

no i see bugger all, just noise
i have crap eyes mind you and could never see those stereoscopic images either as a kid, i mean i saw them but no perceived depth.

this noise looks like a bugger to compress as well.

It's shit, I never manage to see this crap and so do most of the people I know, only a few can see them easily.

Forget it, lots of hassle for nothing.

well, I for one thought it was very cool. I could see both images in both movies. I think it is totally worth it! I'd be intrested to see your progress. The statue almost looks like it is dancing though it appears to be a model that was rotated on a turntable and shot with a still camera at a high frame rate? I didnt read enough on the site to learn how its done but it seems very cool. I mean think about how popular those posters were. I know I'll be showing all my friends these clips to see if they have the all-seeing eye!;) It's best to view them at full screen and then slowly blur and cross your eyes. VERY slowly move your eyes ALMOST back into focus. Try and watch all the moving lines/replicated movements at once and they will join in the middle when your crossed eyes do!!

nice one!:yep:

People kept explaining to me how to do it, for ages, and I never manage to see squat. And I'm not alone, really. it's an effect for some people only.

i can see them in normally around 5secs...

as for 3d content requiring glasses. i have been asked to do such a thing for a future event. cheapest way is using the old red/bue, but polarised method is far greater but more expensive.

idea is to do a dedicated 3d set at a certain time and hand out glasses to ppl as they come in thru the door.

there used to be a plugin for 3ds max 3, to render SIRDS... not sure if there is one around for the latest max / maya.

I used 3DMiracle_v1.73
you set the map jpeg, and a bpm file that will be the 3d form
( it must be black background and the object should be in 256 scale of gray, whiter is higher and black farest )

it can open 3ds file ( in 3dmax export as 3ds ) and you cand rotate you work to animate it. It prety cool... i wana make a little story, with 6 o 7 clips
leave it in avi without compression, edit in in vegas and render in dvd 8000kbits s seg
and leave a plasma 42" screen in a place where people can see it realy realy close, like a vip or somethink like this.

I train a couple of friends to see the images, they didn?t know about stereograms, and in les than 10 minutes ther were goggling looking for more :P

In effectv (windows (http://pbx.mine.nu/effectv/) or nix (http://effectv.sourceforge.net/)) there is a 3d plugin which can transform live-feed into 3d animations. You get the best results when you film high contrast simple objects.
