hey ppl,
im a newbie in VJing and im learning Arkaos VJ now. I only use it for 2 days or so and for now it was realy good progy. But now i went to download some clips and i foud out they dont work. Even some downloaded avis or .mov clips dont work. It probably have to do something with compresion and stuff.
How do i convert these movies to workable format :)

easy Ikist:
don't jknow so much about Arkaos as I don't use it, but at a guess you're files proly want to be 320x240 res, keyframe every frame, and compressed with cinepack or summint like it.
hope it helps, go to vjcentral.com to check out soft reviews which may help you.

hey ppl..
We're using arkaos as an experiment and have had similar problems.
we are saving all our movies as .mov files 320x240res as Sorensen Codec 3...seem to be ok....i wouldn't bother too much with the QT effects as they seem to slow things down, better of editing in other apps and importing.....arkaos is a great concept but does have its flaws, it works in osX which is a bonus but am waiting for VDMX3 release.
Hope it helps
we're trying a few ways of extracting from video cassette....any ideas?

it could be the compression settings if it's a quick time movie i use regular "video" compression at the "best" quality setting , 29.97 frames per second , , key frames at 12 per second and size it at 351 by 240 . this seems to work pretty good and smooth with "soak" and "motion dive 3" and work well if i switch it to a cdv . maybe it would work well with Arkaos , i haven taken the plunge yet and lashed up the money to buy it , but i think it might help !

an "ATI" card comes with an input addapter so you can snip bits from vhs straight to quicktime movies onto your desk top and straight to the settings you want them at . it's a real no-brainer to use and it's fast too .
