I use 3D studio max v3 to draw my character models, I've drawn cyborgs, aliens, skeletons, even a model of Mr Potatoe Head. However I can't help thinking I'm doing things the hardway, it takes me ages to draw these models from individual parts, and then modelling their animation is similarly time consuming, although IK seriously helps in 3DMax. So for a while now I've been meaning to look into character modelling packages, so before I do I thought I'd rack the brains of my fellow posters here at VJC. so any tips guys (or girls ;)) on relevent packages?

kind regards

and very merry christingle

I've managed to scavenge a copy of poser 4, will buy 5 if I like 4 and i think 5 has significant advantages.

I'm wondering now though, can you actually draw characters in poser, or is it just an animation tool for characters you've drawn or imported from other packages?

Also I tried importing one of my characters from max, and it imported as a single object, how do I get poser to recognize limbs n things?
