I rececently had my first NYC gig. I performed at Nublu lounge in Manhattan with a band called send. I found that it was a completly different experience than to what i had been doing previously which was mixing to a dj/club situation. THe focus was completly different. I had to find ways to flow with the music and not just the beat of the bass...acoustic experimental music does not have a steady pounding rythm. Well everything went well, becuase a couple people in the crowd asked me to perform with them at several other venues. Its a weird sensation to wake up one day and realized that you are booked for gigs. can't quit my day job yet though :) haha.

bascially, i'm finding that performing with musicians is a lot better than with just a dj sometimes. just my feelings on it i suppose.

yeah i mainly do visuals for a band these days, i find it alot more fun then at a club. the band i do visuals for atract a fairly 'arty' crowd and they appreciate the visuals and content alot more then the typical club punter.

some bands, Tool, R.E.M, U2 ,def lepard, and expecialy gorillaz use visuals on stage on a huge scale, it's deffinatly something i hope will grow.

you just given me some idea...

i always been thinking about working with djs, but if i would come across a decent band with something meningfull in the music i would just at opportunity..

i think when you versitile, it makes you more open to other ideas.. personally i find i have lots of ideas come to me through the shows itself ot when you create little loops at home while listening to random radio station..
