i'd bet you thought that bag had a lap-top in it...

it was a bag i borrowed from a friend because a cat pissed on mine.

anyway, whether this was an honest mistake or an evil ploy to make off with other people's shit...

please return it to the club. you're more than welcome to piss on it first if you want. it can be washed. you can keep the crappy little mini-tripod thing that was the only thing in there...

perhaps you're with the rather snotty, ill-natured (and uninformed) vj who played before me. perhaps you were the guy who was looking for his scarf at one point.
perhaps you're just some random opportunist with a knack for not looking suspicious.
perhaps i'm just a total idiot who leaves bags in dumb places.

sigh.

my house got broken into again, today.

man that sux, hope they did'nt get away with too much stuff, to seem to still have a computer. U got insurance etc??

If theres one thing im paranoid about its robbers, the theiving gits could have a feild day in most video artists houses, with all the laptops, videocameras and lots of other shit that is generally designed to be portable and thus more nickable :(

Hope neither of you are too screwed over from it.

Thanks for the kinds words.

Ever since I got robbed and lost next to everything last year I never leave the house without my main laptop.

The weirdest thing was that, though someone forced their way into my house by breaking a window, it appears as if they didn't take anything?

So now I'm freaked out.

VideoBrian it sounds like you in fact did lose something valuable. So sorry to hear that.

I know what its like, hope you had everything backed up. This is a warning to everyone else.

BACK UP YOUR SHIT!!!!!

naw. only my faith in humanity ; )

but an empty bag is an empty bag... mostly nothing. i think that some people just automatically walk off with anything that looks like a laptop case...

and put the backup somewhere else - if they are at your place they might get stolen/burned like everything else.

put the backup somewhere else

what great reminder!

I would be crushed if all my gear with all my content on it vanished. Sheeeeit, the thought makes me hurt.

So now I'm freaked out.

the other day i was recording some sound with a sensitive mic, and had it turned up really really hot.
i could totally hear the other people in the building. it was kind of weird.
in conclusion. it's obviously a neighbour spying on you with some sort of bug... hence the black-bag job to get it into your place.

We had an external promoter in the club not to long ago, who at the last minute turned up with a VJ (one who i'd met a couple of times before) - i got him all plugged in, then finished work for the day - when i came in the next day, it turned out that he'd been into the amp-room (out of bounds for non-staff) forced his way into my cupbourd (lifted the top surfce off!) and had taken:
A Mini DVD Player
2 x 10m VGA cables
4 x 10m SVid cables
8 x Bought that day, still in packaging, RCA Cables
and went into my emergency kit bag at the back of the cupbourd and nicked two of my favourite DVDs we'd made completely from scratch (high priced stuff!)

To take the complete piss, he also unplugged and dissasembed our entire install rig and broe (by pulling them down the lenght of the venue), two 30m composite (BNC) runs.

Now, I know some people are gonna say I shouldnt leave my stuff at the club, but the amp-room is our tech office, with desk / computer / phone etc and the gear was in a locked cupbosrd!

How fucking HARSH!!

On the plus side, we know who he is, and he managed to offend the staff, door supervisors, management and serval nights (in not just our club) promoters - so i'm hoping this guy never gets work again.

If you're Brighton based, email or call me and i'll tell you who it was (i'm not going to put his name out on a public forum)

No shit. I had a dream that I left all my gear in my car after a show instead of putting it in the house and woke up to find my car broken into and empty. I killed myself in the dream. All those years of clips and editting and all the money invested instantly gone it would be quite crushing. Good thing it was only a dream.

I got robbed in Birmingham 3 times over 2 months.
They came in once when my house mates and I were in bed still. 8am on a saturday:confused:
THen they came back a few weeks later to finish the job off but there was someone in. They knocked on the door asking for a John who lived at the house.

Then my car got broken into. 1 x Oakleys, 44 minidiscs, 25 Harmonicas, and various other stuff.

The next time they broke into my house they stole, 75 minidiscs (the rest of my collection), the md player, drivers licence, passport, over 200 in cash and lots of other invaluable items.

Then my car got stolen.

I booked a ticket to New Zealand 2 days later because I was so sick of working hard for my own possesions just to have them taken from me.

It was the best thing I ever done.

So for all of you that have been robbed, I feel for you.

had a case nicked recently containing the lenses for my opti 575's.
Got a good idea it was an oportunist punter in a club.
The most annoying thing is that you know they have just dumped them in a skip or hedge somewhere since they would not have a clue what they were.
Now I have to source them all again>>>>never mind the cost.

I've used kodak lens in 575's before, they can get a little soft though, depending on what fx your using and how longer they're in for, they are cheap these days though!

Getting robbed really sucks, got my laptop stolen couple of months ago. The worst thing is that cops could have solved the case in less than five minutes, instead they sent the case straight to archives.

I guess that you're really lucky that you only lost the tripod and the bag.

It's a sad state of affairs. There is so much scum around.

That's one of the reasons why I would never play in a club, and choose to do private and corporate work instead.
