I'm just starting, so...

I was thinking about my computer. There's something wrong with it, i think it's video-card. (or maybe not)

I have PIII-800, 256MB, 20GB Hard and Voodoo 5.
I'm thinking Voodoo 5 is not the best card for VJing, or just for video (2D) computer. Am I right???? Or is there something else wrong????

Need sugestions on comp. system.

And one more thing. As I think, video mixing should be somehow conected in rhythm or temp to the music plaeying around. Am I right????? So, how should it be connected???? With video playing speed, video changing speed or what?????? Can u explain on for example Drum&Bass example.

Well, thanx a lot. And sorry for such a shame...........

as a card i really like the radeon, cheap vivo versions, good tv out, good dual screen, and if you buy used, it is in a way underpriced, cause all the gamers want geforce(or the new 9700)

I am playing with the idea of getting an Asus V8420 Geforce Ti4200 128MB (http://www.hothardware.com/hh_files/S&V/asus_ti_4200d.shtml)

Looks pretty cool IMHO and it's got S-Video out (and DVI + SVGA) too.

making your visuals flow with the music for dnb doesn't even require live audio synching! in dnb the beats are usually complex enough (with loads of elements off-beat...) to give the impression of visuals being in synch with the music if only velocity & intensity of the visuals & music match to a minimal degree ('mock-synching'). so you can actually preproduce complex mixes that will already give the impression of being synchronized with the music.
this is a huge advantage dnb music has over other styles with regards to mixing visuals & gives you a lot of additional freedoms & possibilities!
most dnb tunes are within a range of plus/minus 10bpm & you need not worry about adapting the speed for different dnb-tunes as mock-synching will still work well within this tolerance (though this does not hold for intensity! which is another reason why a mixer is so extremely important).

i would also think about what you want to be able to control (live) yourself & what you want trigger with audio automatically. many/most vj-programs provide functions to trigger events or control variables by audio input.
