View Full Version : Which is more important... (midi / video mixer)

...for running a vj set: a midi or a video mixer? I realize that you're choosing between midi or your laptop keyboard to assign cues for your footage, but how then does the mixer play in? Just to mix video that is strictly manual (ie. coming from video sources only)? Or am I off completely...;) Thanks

midi is simply a control system - it allows you to control your video software from an interface other than the keyboard and mouse (for example a piano style keyboard )
video mixers allow the mixing of video signals - these can come from a range of sources including DVD players, VHS machines, computer (via tvout or a scanconverter) and live cameras
