Problems importing 'mov' files

Hi
I decided to ungrade my quicktime program to a pro version QT7 with itunes(I did not really want the itunes part of the package). Ever since i have done this i have not been able to import any 'mov' files into AE6. Two boxes appear stating the following:

After Effects Error retrieving movie from file "scratch.mov" - out of memory (-108) (10::21)

After i hit the ok button this then appears:

After Effects Error-Can not import - Files of type 'mov' are not supported


I can alter the qt mov to avi but this seems to lower the quality of the final clip. I was just wondering if there is something obvious which i have not checked

i had the same problem with importing mov files into after effects.
i wanted to import them on a pc they came from a mac.
the mac made a kind of index file!?
this one cant be imported. the name is a little different... maybe its the same problem with you?

Cheers for the reply. looks like i might have to export them prior to putting them through AE...thanks again:)
