I'm making a big splash!
On the way I've found such curiosities as this.
Milk Strings (http://courses.ncssm.edu/hsi/splashes/pages/strings/index.htm)
My question to 3d peeps out there...have you made a splash? Basically just a drop of water dropping into water.

How did you do it?

The method I am using is to actually make it out of Sub-D polys and animate it all frame by frame by hand but I would be interested to see or hear about results made using physics based tools like RealFlow.

And of course any links to movies/discourse regarding drips and dribbles would be very much appreciated.

What software are you using?

To do this kind of thing properly, as you said RealFlow is the best solution. For 3dsmax there is an alternative called 'Glue3D' which is cheaper and a bit less powerful.

Have you ever tried using metaballs?
