Hi,

I'm a Belgian VJ and I'm looking for some information on how i can obtain a part-time job as Vj or other) in Perth (or somewhere else in Australia).
Ok, this needs an explanation: The Australian and Belgian government have signed a treaty which makes it possible for young people (18 - 30) to do a 'working-holiday' in Australia for a period of max. 1 year.
The thing is that you can't work for more than 3 months for the same employer.
more info:http://www.immi.gov.au/faq/whm/index.htm

Now i'm wondering if it is possible for me to do some gigs with local VJz. I'm not doing this for the money, i just want to grab this opportunity to make some fabulous intercontinental visuals, work out a concept that shows the differences and similarities between our cultures.

The only money i would like to earn is for survival and my flight back home.

I hope some people can give me some more information on this matter, it would be much appreciated.

Thx and cheerz

Don't go to perth it sux arse :p

There are some perth based VJs on here I'm sure check the user DB and PM the ones there.

Personally I'm in Sydney, my fiancee works for a recuitment company so could prolly help you out with some work, she works for a company called Hamilton, James and Bruce Recuitment if you wanna check them out. They handle temp placement and specialize in travelers :)

As for VJing your more than welcome to come jam with me, would be nice to work with some more OS VJs :) I do quite a variety of shows form small clubs to HUGE parties with ALOT of internationals.

Cheers

You Australians are NICE people ;)
MoRpH, really, thx a lot for all the help...appreciate it.

Perth is the start-point for my Australian Adventure (because of a belgian friend who studies there). I'd love to discover Sydney and it's atmosphere. i've been looking around a bit on the www and found out that most Vj's & Festivals are to be found in Sydney.
So i hope i can join you on visiting some great festivals.
Say thanks to your fiancee, checking out the company :)

As for myself...... together with my partner in crime QBeye, I've done 5 live performances the past 2 years here in Belgium, going from electro to deep-house to acid.
Last year QB and me had ideas cooking and decided to work further under the name: Digiteyez

So you see I'm not a professional VJ yet, but hey, the road is there, it just needs to be walked on :D

I'll arrive in februari-march if all goes well.
Ok MoRpH, thx again and i'll contact you later when i have some more precise information.
