You have to first:
-Record a short mix sequence..using the recorder on the left hand side...
-after you record a small bit, a dropdown box will show you what you just recorded, along with where you want to save that movieand what you name the movie...next a compression/size pop up box will open...I use 640x480 best quality(which I found out is Animation codec)..
Choose which quality and size you want, and you will get the rest..
Cheers

....Hy!!!
I have tryed and I did it but it Now is here a new problem which is the "exportTitle"......When I chose to export my performance I need to select one clip to start exporting and then this clip is inside of my perform. when the Exporting is done.
.....do I need to chose this to export everything????

Keep playing with it, do not be lazzzzy.
BTW, would be better if you record the performance and later re-do it on FCP or Premiere. I mean, the MD3 output quality is terrible.

You can record a short performance/clip, and output it at best quality(QT's Animation Codec) which is much better that DV codec, then take the performance/clip into an editing program and do what you want with it..This will give the best results, but a reminder, Animation codec takes quite abit od HD space, as it is a low compression codec, thus it makes some big files..

I have a dilemma regarding exporting in motion dive too...
I recorded a mix that is about 12minutes long and then exported it at 320x240. It turned out fine but the res was a bit lower than I prefer. I then decided to try it at the hi-res (animation codec). It took all night and when it was done ended up being reeeaaaly jerky. I'm running xp on a 2.4 with 2 sticks of 512 ddr, so I don't think my system was the problem? My question is should I forget about trying the hi-res export, and just go for the 320x240 and clean it up after. Also, what would be the best way to bring the quality up? I have Vdub, premiere, and after effects.... thanks, newbie Alex

....look vj2.I have also export my perf. in hi-res and it was
not a quality that I wanted.So...try to put everything in Premiere
and chose wich quality type is best for you.But my advice is wenn you finish the "job" in premiere... then in After eff. you can cristalize your perf. I have done this step and it cames verrryyy
goood. If you have VisualJockey R3 chose a Intel video compression
to make you perf. even shorter.
...best wishes..---illectric---

What you want to do VJ2, if doing more proceessing to a clip, is keep the temporal quality as high(good) as possible..I never said to use the animation codec for playback, it is like a Tiff vs. Jpeg thing...
The best thing for me (at least) is to make a High quality animation codec, maqke that the backup copy of your clip(s), and then do what ever processing to that clip(animation codec) you want, (it will hardley degrade at all), then find a suitable playback codec (I still prefer cinepak, no mater what you all say), and export the clip from your editing software(premier or fcp, or vegas ect.) This is all a bit of work, but will give you hi quality data backup of all your clips, for future use...
Now with all that said, you can go with the lesser options to export out of MD3, for say, more MD3 footage, or to build a MD3 libary(320x240), which is all okay for playback, but not to be using in an editor..
So Illectric was right about getting it to premier, and all I would say is do it with as low compression codec as possible..that being the only decent option that MD3 has...Animation/high-quality 640x480...
It would be nice if in the next versionof Motion Dive, if they would give us more options to export with..
So now you know, you have to use what is right for you..
