View Full Version : inspiration by sharing....a pic a day

Hey everybody
I still find myself inspired seeing so many vjs from around the world all sharing knowledge....( oh yeah great stuff )
So here's the story about me and my pictures....
3-4 years ago a teacher challenged me to make a design for a website portal , using flash but no video.. I was outrage....=)
being a vj i'm a video freak....so i experimented with taking video clips, exporting one frame then skipping some....taking another and so on.....i then imported them in Flash, sticking them one after the other creating..a JPEG ANIMATION....not video..haha this screwed my teacher
The point is i had to export a shitloads of images slightly diferrent then the other ..( think about it..average 30 frames per secondes....that means in a single minute of video you have 1800 images. If you cut it down to a 10% workable ratio..that'S still 180 images per minute of video.
i found a old back-up cds....i 'm sharing them with you all
A new pic every a day...for a while...=) share on!!!!!

Hey everybody.....
here is new picture......
this was taken a few years back.........at Gloom a haloween party
I'm proud of that picture for a few reason....
1. Taken with stabdard 35mm camera ( A canon f1, 20 year old camera )
2. Only natural light....no flash......and we all know theres not alot of light in raves
3. So i improvised......over exposed and over developped the film....creating the illusion that we could actually see.....
Enjoy.....long live the DJ's ....Immortal be the VJ's

Allright the pic u will see is a gear set-up pic.
It's a show i did for the company i work for ( corporate audio-visual company ). Every year they do a show called Technology cocktail.....the purpose is to show our clients and future clinets what we have in equipement and what can we do with it......This year they ask me and my dj friend to do the main act....so we did...
I had 8 projectors, five plasma screens, a shit load of moving lights.....plus for my gear to gave me 2 mx-50's ( love that machine ), 5 industrial vhs, 5 monitors, 2 laptops and all the gear for my Dj....( since it was a corporate cocktail we had to be real smooth.....so we played good soft IDM and minimal techno....
Anyways what i like about the comapny i work for is that every time i do a show they give the gear no charge....( u could say i'm sponsored.... )
P.s. i will put more pics of this show for the next few days ....
p.p.s the bubbles on the colums where a small flash animation i did.....

inspiration
1. Stimulation of the mind or emotions to a high level of feeling or activity.
2. The condition of being so stimulated.
3. An agency, such as a person or work of art, that moves the intellect or emotions or prompts action or invention.
4. Something, such as a sudden creative act or idea, that is inspired.
5. The quality of inspiring or exalting: a painting full of inspiration.
6. Divine guidance or influence exerted directly on the mind and soul of humankind.
7. The act of drawing in, especially the inhalation of air into the lungs.
What inspire me, you or anyone else on this board may or may not inspire me, you or anyone else on this board. This is the basis of an age old debate on what "art" is.
If you ever actually spent some time in a dirty warehouse, you might begin to realize how inspirational it really is. My partner and I made a short film with the majority of the content being shots from this warehouse.
Instead of knocking the ideas of others, why don't you share with the rest of us what inspires you? Wheres your pic?
is art is art is

......Anyone i don't think you get what i'm trying to do here.....this is a thread about sharing and inspiring others to do the same....it's not a pic oif the most beautiful images of your collection......simply sharing for the soul purpose of sharing.....(now that's inspiring......the action, not simply the picture ) You said to be more critical of our work.....the pics i showed you were not work, when i get paid for something don't worry i'm critical of my stuff and i give it all i have.........the pics i post here are simple moments in time that nobody would see if it wasn't for an outlet as this......

I had half an hour spare time, and I had my camera with me, and some gaffa. The Camera ended up on the windshield, and off I went.
Funny thing i that when I encoded this back home, I could swear I'd disabled the audio, but somehow the audio got encoded too .... which is quite amusing actually :-)
the engine rev sounds like just like tiny small scalextric cars swirling around on their tracks ......

who said the Elder Gods were imaginary?
counterculture folklore says that the pentagon is actually a magical holding circle that holds one of the scariest of the Cthulu monsters , Yog Sothoth , (alternatively known as Hound of Cthulu or the Eater of Souls)
which puts a new slant on Sept 11th, huge hole blown in th side of pentagon (from the inside! with no apparent plane wreckage !)
followed by mass deaths then a build upto world war
also it should be pointed out that Dagon, Great Cthulu and the rest all hail originally from Ancient Sumeria , which is of course modern day Iraq.
sweet dreams everybody :)

aaargghhh......
ok well what we need now then is a picture of the pentagon from above at night, and I'll see if I can gro a similar picture from that, we can test my Elder Gods scanning technique. Preferably we need a picture with an exposure of about 1 second, with a slight rotation of the camera. Below is the origonal picture, with a levels enhancement, to give you an idea what type of thing we need. It'd be great if somebody had the picture we need!
http://217.33.241.242/download/public/dgreen/Canary01.jpg
Once we've proven the technique, we could do a fly over with a helicopter and a decent video camera on 1 sec exposure and apply this set of filters and maybe see a video!

While studying I get bored,
took a simple digital camera,
started taking pictures for fun of my room and went on on near places etc,
some later I began to play with the pics until I saw something beautiful,
One of the things I came up with, was the next thing, I only took this part of the whole pic, nothing more, no zooming, no colouring, no vector using stuf,...
guess where it is part of,...

Hello everyone,
It is been a long time since i have been on this forum. I have been extremely busy with my work ( work always takes all your time and ambitions when it doesn<t have anything to do with your passion)
On the upside i am now a director of an corporate audiovisual company. I have great gear to play with and rent. The shows are boring ...corporate galas and so on....
here is a pic a of a recent show. We sponsored an event in Montreal, over 25 ooo $ of gear over three days. We had to supply plenary sessions, opening galas anf coffe breaks. The picture is one of a coffe break with a F-1 grand prix theme. We rigged a 6x8 screen on truss added a plasma screen and projected ( rigged in the air Eiki PH4 5000 Lumens projector ) the 50 years of evolution in F-1 DVD. That set-up was actually the simplest of all. All that for a coffe break of 30 minutes. Corporate gigs make me crazy sometimes.
if i can i will start posting a few pics now and again,
everyone have a nice day
