Thanks,

if you want something simple & user friendly, there is 3D Flash Animator (i use v. 3.5), it's just for simple 3d objects and txts. Then there is Eovia Amapi 3D - something similar to 3dmax, you can export everything as swf too... what else... aah yes, almost forgot about Swift 3D. and from 3DMax you can also export vectors as swf via plugin called Illustrate...

hope i helped

Is this how you made your "dancing vectors", Eirenah?

Hello,

say eirenah where can I DL that simple flash 3D tool, that you metioned (v 3.5). Soundz not too bad.

btw. if you want a real "pro" tool for 3d and flash, there still is plasma. (www.disreet.com/products/plasma) <-- URL should be something like this.

Holly > dancing vectors are Poser + exporting as gif sequences + tracing in flash + masking with TV noise... weird combination i know, but it's the only way i could get what i wanted....

AetherPan > http://www.insanetools.com/download.htm or something from http://www.google.com/search?q=3d+flash+animator+3.5&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=hr&lr=

(non fulll version adds a stupid smily into swf but you can remove it after importing to flash - just delete the symbols in library)

and the plasma...... mmmm... yup, forgot to mention it, but didn't try it... did you?

hepp, thx 4 the links.

No didn't try plasma yet. Seems to expensive to me. (800 ?:( )

But there is a Demo to download on their Homepage, but I didn't try that either. Like swift you can import you *.3ds files into plasma.

cheers,

its all just actionscript, the 3d engine took a long time, this kind of thing in actionscript is a bit of a task - lots of work arounds and maths. the download time is high cos of all the feedback video loops, for the balls and planes.

i hoped to get flash design work out of it or even sell the engine part, but nuthin happened...:(

I'm also starting with 3D in Flash and I'd like to thank you all for the very use_able links.

i am just starting to explore flash as a tool for vj work too.

i liked swift3d for its simplicity but for really complex flash i dont know if its that good.

for mixing i have found www.flashmixer.de really wicked. Its free which helps and its just flash if you get my drift.

flashmixer is for me THAT VJ flash tool very very good. Can't say that enough :yep: .

And eirenah can you send me simple example of you're flash 3d Work. I tried to use that program (3d flash Animator 3.75) But I didn't understand it yet. I just don't understand any 3d program. So I don't know what you're able to do with it.
Just a simple one pleeease *withsugarontop*
:D
thx||AetherPan

well, i tested out illustrate for max.
and WOW, really nice toon shadeing etc, but the swf output is just the icing on the cake... tis good stuff.

tho it does slow the rendered output of max quite a bit....

This is a bit off thread, but:

If anyone is interested I have just finished doing a 3D project in Director. I used LightWave to do my modelling and Plasma to do my animation and export . . . 3D Shockwave Studio gives pretty good control over 3D objects/lights/cameras etc . . . I assume better than actionScript . . . I've been using Director for years, and have nearly finished a beta release of a QT-MIDI VJ tool -- the next step will probably be some sort of 3D VJ program . . . Would love to gather some ideas on what people would be into . . .

PS: I know I'm ultraNewbie around here, but I'm not too fresh on the VJ thing . . .

if you want good flash-VJ-tools
chech this out ..

- VLIGHT : www.vlight.to (http://www.vlight.to)
- NAIKUDA : www.naikuda.com (http://www.naikuda.com)

Don't forget Flahmixer www.framefarmers.de For my money it has the edge. Naikuda is a bit of a mystery to me - Gorgeous site with bugger all info on it (Doh!) I had it running for a few days, but it didn't make me think about using it live - maybe I'm missing something here. IMHO any app should be intuitive to operate - I want to be able to dump my 200 flash clips into a folder and get going, I don't see how the Naikuda system works, and there's no real explanation of the rationale.

Hope I haven't missed anything but no-one's mentioned Swish yet. It's really simple to create fx and you can output as swf or avi depending on what software you use. There's a new version just out that handles 3d stuff so it might be worth checking out if you can't be bothered learning action script and want some decent results like yesterday. You'll find it at www.swishzone.com and it's cheap compared to Flash. I've been using it for a year and the results are good, plenty of possibilities. :)

Yep - must concur here with mikistrange, Swish is the way forward for underfunded VJs - I use a lot of Flash and am highly tempted to move over to Swish as the price of Macromedia upgrades is considerably more than Swish itself!! Obviously, if you are an actionscript junkie, it'll disappoint, but for vector animation its a regular little gem! My guess is that it will do the "Painshop Pro" thing and become well supported and develop into an app every bit as good as Flash - albeit always a few steps behind. Actually no...Paintshop Pro had a multiple undo function way before Photoshop....but I digress!

I have heard that the files sizes of swish output is quite large compared to flash (on a comparitive animation) as it renders each frame as a seperate vector image, rather than moving exiting points like flash. Is this true?

I think you're right, but what do we care? We're not making webpages, we're performing video! =]
