I was wondering if there were any professional vjs in teh states that know how club owner/ party producers feel about vj's using manipulated appropiated footage ala EBN... just wonding if anyone has experienced a legal concern...

I've never heard of any VJs having legal troubles because s/he used samples from copyrighted sources. Although legally this is not allowed, I guess VJing is not a big enough 'market' yet for the big corporations to care about us. I mean, they would not be able to do a lot of money by enforcing these laws :)

it might be legal. EBN never had problems that stopped them. Josh pearson did the huge u2 zoo tv tour...appropiated footage from live statelites, without any legal consent... if its a small enough piece of footage under US law...it SHOULD be fair use...same with pardody, non-forofit/ educational use... but fair use is always open for interpretation...
