View Full Version : Beauty of moving bodies
EXP3
1st December 2002, 05:00 PM
Hello everybody....this is my first comment on this forum....i'm a new member but not a new vj.....I have been active since the beginning 90s.
As anyone here ever filmed somer modern dance......its a beautiful thing to watch and remix afterwards.....There is something so pure about moving bodies.....so much importance in every movement they make.......
So u take some nice professionnal danceers.....make up some moves.....and then afterwards mix it up with arkos....flash....after effects and so on....
The logic is that the main subject of the mix is the human body....but it's interacting with the ambiance and backgrounds ( that's were the experimentation with textures and construction come in...)
Anyways try it in the future ......so many beautiful women in the dance world

Nice work!
There is definitely an expressive language about the human body that can't be matched.... I like to use a dancer's body as a starting point in After Effects.

I am currently working on visuals for a contemporary dance piece. Making three films that interact with parts of the narrative and the dancers, going to cut in some live cams on the night. Makes a change from a club environment I guess.

SIN Cru present
The Moonstalker
Beneath the pure white moon, a double bed is heavy with two comforted bodies. A chilling breeze floats through the walls to another bedroom where a silver shadow reveals the shape of a woman as she seeks warmth between the ice cold sheets. Two private bedrooms, three private lives, which become entangled in a succession of deceit. In a graphic exchange of mediums, Sin Cru tell this beautifully delicate but honest tale of the absence of boundaries in love, using contemporary dance and breakin'.

well i would say if we're talking about experiments with dancing+movement, vjOxygen is the queen (Oxygen, where are U?!?). She's done some quite nice expreiments on that topic, called dancemachine and ballet mechanique . Cutting and rearanging sequences and composing them into new forms. A kickass breaking the rules in movement.

thanks a lot. actually on the pics you don't really see the projections (looks more like only a spot), but with all the colours looks much better.

Seems like every one is into dancers! Me to! i work lot with looped
clips of movement...also worked with video on two contemporary dance performances. last project was african-influenced and the visuals ended up working as atmospher-enhancer, "story-teller" and as a
kind of digital scenography...look forward to doing some more work in this field.
