ok was just about to post this to seex regarding a lexicon, but possibly because the thread was vague (what kind of standards? voltage? pal/ntsc, good/bad, evil/pure, soft's homogenity...) or possibly because *someone* forgot to take their meds today (no names, new thread, new attytude, please) that thread got locked-down.

so (in the poststructural sense) we go through our "langue"(the entire body of language) all the clips we got, and select the probable "parole" (the language that comes out of your mouth... or mixer) for any given event.

it's not the actual parole, but what most likely will be thrown into the mix. mostly how they come together is some improvised set-- but like any great jazz musician, an improv is full of little moves, tricks, trills and signature moves.

pretty much like with DJing. now i'm jealouse, because turntablism has both a lexicon and a transcription methodology (http://www.ttmethod.com/) and seex, if we had this for VJing, and we both knew how to read the sheet-visuals, then you coudl play one of my jams and i coudl play yours... sure it woudl be cool to improv on the scores... but one part of the cool side is also that it would be communicable between artists...

so in the example you gave with the two events one program-- your VJ friend would be able to play your composition....

that could be fun!
