hello vj types
my this is a big forum innit? how do you cope with all these boards?
anyway, since the big chill forum is down, I thought it was about time to register on here and say hello to you good people
I'm wondering how many people are based around the leeds area, if you'd care to post up here that'd be cool
the reason for wondering is the new night we have planned for leeds, focusing entirely on visual content, from short films, through rescores to full on vj'ing
were a bit slack, so it's taking time to get off the ground, but post if you post on here and kick my ass enough, we'll get it going - it's going to be a bit special, and just for you visualist types ; )

rovastar - are you saying you are listed as playing and are not?
naughty, naughty, you'd think dan would have learnt from last years promotion of a 'big chill' stage....
ok, so if you're not playing (leeds vj mafia), we should meet up for a beer somewhere in town :D

unj - we will meet up shortly I promise! just stupidly busy @ moment....
well, you guys were sorely missed at masterpeace, jim myogenic & leon did as good a job as they could with the visuals, but with practically no throw, given the main stage was a lorry, they weren't fantastic
mind you, I imagine you're glad you never went, seeing how it turned out in the end
can't believe there was another festie packed out only up the road in ilkely - iration steppers too....

Aye the moormusicfestival. Top event that was. Enjoyed VJing at that http://www.moormusicfestival.com/ I too am in Leeds as well as Unj, Judderman and themunkefromunkle. I'm interested in this event. It's not Gatecrasher with it's LED dancefloor screen is it?

Hey Guys,
Im a music producer from Leeds, writing funky, Techy, breakbeat style tracks. Anyway, the time has come to take my music out live, there will hopefully be an MC involved and maybe a drummer. The idea is to have visuals played aswell. So, would any of you guys be interested in having a chat regarding the possibilities of getting together and collaberating. Thanks for any help in advance,
my email is matt@datasoul.co.uk
Thanks again and hope to hear from you soon,
Matt

hello hello hello
"young baron" it's great being a junior again, even if it is only a virtual online junor type thing, hello to you too jim
and freakowen and matt and pistol pete
sorry, I've not been around for a while, but back now & in full effect
I've been keeping busy sorting out our halloween gig, which you can read all about on our website (http://www.lookandlisten.co.uk/) or check the flier in our photo gallery (http://www.flickr.com/photos/lookandlisten/52104831/in/photostream/) but basically it's 31st oct, wardrobe, leeds vj mafia, digitonal and media lounge plus dj sets larks n ting
would be good to see you local vj types down there, I'd really like to make it a bit of a showcase for our local talent and give y'all a handy local place to gig, as well as a cracking night out
tell your friends, hell, tell your ememies, they'll probably sh1te themselves when they see what we have planned ;)
I'm especially interested in using it to link vj's and music types in excatly the way datasoul suggests, so matt you will be getting an email shortly - great minds clearly think alike ;)
moormusicfest sounded cool, that definately gets my vote next year
LED dancefloor you say - mmmm, I tend to shy away from the crasher kids, but that sounds interesting to say the least.....
see's ya around.....

'ey oop
did you mean to post on my thread about the leeds scene?
if so, check it for updated info on our night lookandlisten - launching 31st oct at the wardrobe
music is hip hop, reggae, dub, soul, funk, breaks, electro that kinda vibe - don't ask too many technical questions though, bear in mind I'm only a dumb promoter ;)
but always up for suggestions for matgerial and artists, helping with collaboprations etc
check our website (http://www.lookandlisten.co.uk/) too, and I'll have a gandert at yours
manc is indeed not far from us, infact i ended up ton the outskirts getting lost in the fog on the m62 at the weekend, which proves you can get there much quicker than you'd expect....

The night looks really interesting, the Shinning thing is really great, can't link to the visuals stuff though, you got any other links to the kind of visuals you have on?
baron
19th October 2005, 10:44 AM
ah ha!
you found the chink in our armour, no we don't have a functioning link to the visuals yet - website only went live last week and there are still a few bits to add in
I should point out that the shining trailer isn't for the version of the shining that we'll be showing, ours is proper scary - not nicely like that one, though I think we might wind people up and bit and suggest that it's the new happy clappy version, before socking it to em good n proper ;)
like I saw, would be cool if you can make it, if not we should chat properly sometime
loving your 3d stuff (as well as everything else) I saw pere ubu do a live score to the last 3d reel of 'it came from outer space' last year that was fantasstic - the 3d glasses gave me headache, so I ended up watching it without the glasses, which was very trippy

hells teeth it's busy on here today
I was always led to believe this was a bit of a slow forum...;)
anyway, good stuff, the more the merrier, especially you people who should really get where we're coming from, not just regular punters who I have to explain what vj'ing is all about to
as for recognising me, well you can come in fancy dress, which probably makes recognition harder, especially as I've not decided if I am doing fancy dress or what I will wear if I do
however, you can check out my ugly mug here (in real life I'm aka tim) - plus there are some photies from cool local festies, including the one we're not mentioning......

and if all else fails, just look out for the bloke bouncing off the walls with the long pointy sideburns ;)

Hi Baron,
How'd monday go, sorry not to have made it down, is there another one coming up?
I'm thinking of doing an AV night in Manchester sometime, I've got good access to an old mill which could be a cool space.
Ok, keep in touch

Ps, did you get my DVD which I posted you?

hey andy, and anyone else reading who was planning on coming but didn't make it ;)
the night was a real cracker, I'm well chuffed with it and the sterling work put in by local boy unj and the vj mafia crew, without whom I'd be royally screwed :D
it being our first night, a monday and (suprisingly) up against loads of student drinking den competition, it didn't draw that many punters
but that aside it was great
the shining rescore worked a treat, to the point where people thought it more scary than the original
vj'ing for dj munster looked great - though i must confess I missed a lot of the vj stuff sorting other stuff (and myself) out
and the av set worked a treat
all in all, too good a night to miss, shame on you all ;)
yes, there will be more nights, next one featuring strictly kev's rescore to the monkees 'head' - no details as yet, as we need to rethink venue/day etc, but it will be sometime in january I reckon
I'm on the lookout for other vj/av stuff to include in that night, so get in touch if yer interested (andy got your dvd, v nice mate)
laters...

What are you doing in Derby?
That is my home town and I have never seen anything here apart from what I did.
Are there any venues left anymore? Not much goes off here at all after the Gatehouse closed down.
Dan M who did Gatecrasher for many years lives in Derby too. Although I have not seen him for a fair few months now.
Give me a shout.
