u can email members thru the members area tho if yr question and the answer will be of use to other newbies its best to keep it in the open forums, MoRpH is always hanging about so hell see it soon enough.

as to your question

composite is a type of video signal, the one where all the signal is sent(crunched) down one wire.
this can have different types of pugs at the end , the most common being phono (rca) and BNC

the other types are svideo: where the signal is separated into the luma(black/white) information and the chroma (colour) information. this is also known as a Y/C signal (Y=luma, C=Chroma) these generally have an svideo plug at the end (although if anyone has any of the proprietary jvc svid leads please pm me!!)

the other type of video signal is component , which is only on hi end broadcast kit, where the signal is split into 5 , red, green, blue luma and synch info. these always end in 5 bnc plugs

going back to your question if you want a long cable run i would recommend a long length of RG59 cable with bnc plugs at the end, svideo is a better signal but the cables are very delicate/expensive and die easily especially the long ones.

if your gonna run any signal over about 100m id also think about a distribution amp.

hope that helps
