looks cool,

but you know you can achieve the same result by plugging a regular electric guitar to a midi interface and a computer ?

yeah X..... sorry but I have to agree Viditar = LAME!!! I think other more creative interfaces are the way to go not rehashing lame ass rock cliches

actually a midi interface for a guitar will only give you a bunch of note on/off information, the viditar seems to have a whole load of different knobs/faders/sliders, and an lcd monitor

as for lame ass rock cliche's , from what i can tell sinch themselves are a lame ass rock band so it seems just the tool for the job.

actually, a guitar synth pickup (like the rolands) will give you much more than just note on/off...
and while I somewhat agree with the distaste for the perpetuation of the rock-star paradigm, I still think its cool and can serve well as a crossover point to attract other demographics of punters into our video spell...

LOL,
looks like its unanimous then, we are now going to see what the industry will do, to turn our dreams into reality.
Unless we do it BETTER............

what exactly do you need help with dave?
i dont wear costumes to perform, but in my pre vj days i used to be a prop/costume maker/sculptor both for film fx and for live roleplayers so i know my way around that area really well if i can be of any assistance....

oops, I guess I might just be beyond help ;) .... I dunno... any other links for performance artists you know that use costumes in their acts? This has always intriguiged me deeply. (BTW, my long lost friends are having a masquerade rave this friday night - I think I'm gonna go check it out.

I can see where you are coming from - it does seem like a lot of clips to memorise. We label up our midi keyboard to remind us which clip is where and we haven't got nearly that many keys...

I didn't really like his analogy with musical instruments - pianos don't have completely different sounds on each key - the sound of each key fits into an overall pattern of octaves and so on. Pianists don't have to memorise what each and every key sounds like - they learn the pattern and play according to that.

I've always thought that playing visuals is more similar to drumming than to any other musical instrument.

On the other hand, maybe he uses pretty much the same clips for each gig he does, only changing a few each time. He might also have them arranged in some sort of logical groupings to help him find the ones he wants. (e.g. slow moving backgrounds in one area, fast moving background in another, things that rush towards the camera in another...)

it may not be so hard as it seems to memorize what button does what.

Mr Sinch contacted me a long time ago inquiring into developing the soft for it, from what he told me then the 128 clips were all bits of a song ... every song change the 128 clips would also change. So its not like every clip you trigger you have the choice of 128, there are a few options for every moment in a song.
And as j quoted one pedal is used for live stream. ONE PEDAL! how long would it take to practice with that?
and no the clips arent triggered with resolume but in the end his system was made with max & NATO (as you might learn visiting his site)
I can see why your all reluctant to the 'rock guitar god' thing, but that seems to be the whole idea of his act. I do believe its meant tongue in cheek.

I am no piano player and I do still need a screen.
I use 60 clips a song in my performances and mix that with avi streams. I run through 13 patches a set and it is not difficult to remember where any of these are at all. The band will have another 10-15 clips on each patch, which they also trigger for audio using their instruments. If Mr Smith has no midi signals from musicians, then I think its an easy job;just wait till you have to combat overzealous last minute programming from muzose with 3 more inputs.
When playing with bands, rehearsals are the keys to remember.
