How do you get the browser to recognize your external hard drive (all I was showing was a, c, d and e)?

You're best bet is just to post a query on the Resolume website - they're generally v.helpful.. - but, I doubt the resolume software would detect drivers for external hardware.

im curious to what kinda performance other people are getting on a lappy in resolume.. im going to post a clip on my website.. if your really hardcore download it and tell me if it plays totally smooth..

I use a pro-star 1.0 lappy with 128 meg ram, and an external 80gig 7200rpm firewire drive.

I have to output the second monitor at 640x480(32).. for some reason 24 (or was it 16) seems to be choppier.. im scaling to 640x480.. my high data-rate stuff is all 640x480.. i find if i try to output lower rez that it will actually be choppier in playback.. I'll post one of my dj name animations on my website.. for those of you that have a avi playback software and have time.. please take a sec to download this avi and see if you get flawless playback :)

When I add an effect i'd say framerate drops to around 20-25 frames a sec (is there a way to see fps while playing?? if not that'd be a great feature).. granted it's still very usable and doesnt lag so much as for me not to want to use it.. <and im very picky about quality, res, fps>

I'm just wondering if the 1ghz is my video 'bottleneck'.. i hear people talk about mixing 2-3 layers and having 4 effects on all the time.. but i just cant see that happening with the type of clips im trying to play (without going to a fullsize pc)

anyways my clip is here.. its just a dj name loop.. but its the easiest to see lag on
www.fucdup.com/avi (right click on jimmyjoslin(whatevere).avi and select save as - you know the drill)

Well, the only reason I'm not using Resolume is that it struggles on my desktop (Athlon 1100, 512MB RAM, Geforce2 Ultra 64MB)! So its not going to be happy on my 1GHZ Vaio. I'd love to use it, and am fascinated to know how others are getting on with it on lappys. Personally, I have tried demos of just about every app available and find them ALL disappointing (and some, downright shite) in one respect or another. SVi looks usefull, but I'm loathe to trust it in a live situation. Motion dive looked promising, but my lappy will only display 800x600 as a small rectangle bounded by a black border - does anyone know how to get over this? (I suspect that it is an XP issue, but could be talking out me jacksie!

Jaffa,

at the moment my "non-hippo" sets are performed with 2 lappies,
an Inspiron 8200 1.6 ghz 256 RAM Ge-Force 32MB
and a Titanium G4 550 Mhz 512 RAM ATI Rage 32MB
I've tried just about every direct connection configuration,
with varying results, most of them including black borders
and a lot of swearing...

I'm sure if I spent some time studying the manuals,
as well as the history of laptop video cards and quantum physics,
I would get the same results as
when these machines were still in the factory.

But time is not what I have to much of at the moment
so now I just plug scan converters between lappies and mixies,
5 mins later I'm off and ready.

Yeah, I use a scanny too with my Vaio, but they are a real quality bottleneck! Having had the privilage of using a Broadcast quality one once, I've seen with my own eyes, how much is lost thru that little box! I've just started to use my mini-DV camcorder thru the MX50 as part of my set-up, again, when mixing between that and my laptop, I see a big difference - mostly in colour saturation and contrast. I guess thare's no ideal set-up, unless money was no object! What I do know tho, is that there is room in my gig rucksack, for 2 portable DVD players - now that would be a nice accompinient to the laptop/MX50!!
