According to their faq 'The content provider will receive 20% of the proceeds each time his or her content has been purchased'

Wow how generous - not!

How can they justify such a high take? It means that everytime they sell your clip you make 0.4euro - Seriously, this can't be right!?!?

yeah
i got it - checked it up - did not feel it warranted attention at the mo.
still in its infancy - im surpirised it suddenly appeared on VJF without any pre-interest

good idea but we have many of these banks dont we
and without our input it'll remain another fish in the ocean

not to diss it - but with so much image swapping and open sourcing between us - it'll be a tough commercial ride
good luck to them

there had better be some wicked clips on there

0.4euro :D
25p per clip

VJForums is funny, on one thread you've got professionals discussing charging ?2000 per second for custom footage, on another you've got blaggers like this asking you to upload your clips for free with the possibility that they might pay you a couple of quid if they get bought enough times.

"made for monkeys by morons"

I suggest uploading large amounts of pr0n.

I got it too, 20% is only resonable if they can guarantee a certain amount of cash folw a month or jear and promise to do justice if they cant keep up. The other way round wuld seem resonable at the moment...

I also got the email and assumed that I was spammed from my email details on VJcentral, I did a search on the spammer and found they had links to http://www.vjcentral.it/
which I didn't know existed

I checked out the site and could only find a file upload feature with no information on how much the files would cost and how much percentage would be taken by the company.

I think this is a good idea but its something that we as a community should be doing on a not for profit basis, so that creators get as much revenue for their clips as possible.
My day job involves finding and supplying archive footage using similar e-commerce technology and after the initial investment and marketing the site basically runs itself!

I did see an advert a few months ago on VJC about the same idea..
I also have been contacted by some person from that same website , to give content, but I am not sure if its this website ( but mb I am confused, and I also dont remember if it was open-source)
I did show him/her my interest about the possibility though....
But then I actually forgot about the whole thing,
or maybe I asked more info and didnt get a reply.
..not sure..

A percentage of 20% is not that strange??
Go to a gallery and they will ask 40, or even more.
It can be interesting when more commercial ( video-) production companies will come to check this out. Not (just) the vj community.

If its 20% of the profit that they keep its fair, if its the other way round than im surprised.

Well, I heard about this project at a vj festival in Rome , the LPM, where Joey, the guy of Vjib came to present his project.(and that's the reason for which you found this link in the italian community website)

I understood the same, it sounds interesting but i have no idea how it works

:)

Keep the leeches out! All the more reason why I continue to create my own content, which anyone can do with a bit of creativity, talent, and effort,

Make your VJing yours. Lead, don't follow. Dare to be different. Isn't that what VJing is all about? As soon as everyone starts buying ready-made clips and a Kaptivator, everyone will have the same show.

Then again, those will original content stand out from the lemmings...
