mpeg2/svcd questions

hi y'all


what is the pixel shape of 1/2 ntsc mpeg2 files (ie. i've downloaded mpg2 files that are 384 x 480)

and does anyone know a good convertion method for 384x480 29.97fps ntsc to 384x288 25fps pal with as little loss in quality and artifacts as possible

I think that 384x480 is CVD res? D2 (1/2 D1)?

I'd recommend looking around on www.vcdhelp.com for what will work best for that conversion...

open them in virtual dub and look at the clip properties to see what pixle aspect they are (use after effects or premiere if vdub can't open mpeg 2)

the software ntsc pal converter from http://members.chello.hu/mezei.attila/dvtools/ looks quite good and its pretty cheap also

good to use the internet rather than the living room
