if its true, then i'm happy about my job title being 'shaper' instead of 'flasher'

for non-uk folk, a flasher is a dirty old man (woman?) who wears a long overcoat with nothing underneath, and goes arounfd exposing himself

Heard the expression: Jack of all trades, master of none? Alluding to the software, not you!

thats the silliest thing I ever heard.
it'd be useless to users, it'd be useless to Macrobe wasting a big part of their revenue. I see apple software working on intel hardware happening before this.

also if there was nothing underneath there wouldn't be much point in flashing now would there :)

i thought flash was to merge with PDF, not that Would be handy; PDFs are totaly static and very limiting & flash can't print for peanuts

"adobe flasher directs?" this may lead to a convoluted program UI
not to mention, it'll be at least 1$K

adobe merging with macro is like coke buying pepsi. there are minor competitors, but it's basically monopoly.

Oh, did you see the rumor of Apple meeting with intel again? is at the front page of Macrumors.com for real.

Now, I may see Flash and Director together but never with After Effects, they are way too different.

Actually Flash and Director would be difficult to combine actually.

It sounds to me like they're 'packaging' the three together maybe.
Thats not unusual.

ew, what a kludge.

AE doesn't need to merge into anything, its growing all encompassing anyway.

what can QT read? can it actually handle any scripting?

not really, Director is just flash but a bit more isn?t it? They come from the same nest, which is why, for these legacy reasons, flash files still have the extension .swf (ShockWave File)

You could do away with Lingo because its cack anyway and stick with the ECMA compliant ActionScript, and just keep adding functions and classes till it can do everything Director can (if you want websites to be able to change your screen resolution, install stuff, generally cock things up).

MDM (http://www.multidmedia.com/software/mdmstudio/) already make a half decent bodge-job of converting flash to Director by making a director bassed sandbox for flash (you use flash?s ?FScommand? to communicate with it?s ?Flash Sandbox? and call director functions from there)

Director was already on the way out before the merge anyway

history repeats

if you remember, flash was originally a seperate company product that macro bought. (which explains it's interface design, which I've never liked.)

a mac tablet would be great, and it seems like a very "apple type" idea, the commercial showing some artist painting on it

so i said to my mate again 'now look here, it seems reasonable to expect a software bundle, but the code is just too different to merge' and he replies 'its not a bundle, its a coalescence, its at beta stage already'

either he's lying/tripping or its true. i like the idea. youre just grumpy..

it's just weird enough to be true. :alien:

an army of highly paid programmers are probably working on it right NOW...

Merging these programs would be crazy. As individual programs they have a lot to improve as is (I like them, but im not a brainless fanboy). Merging them would involve both complex technical issues and complex design decisions aswel.

The design environments are very different too. Designing for web involves completely different approaches to designing for broadcast gfx or film... and of course designing for interactive cd kiosks etc.

Nintendo will merge the Nintendo DS, Super Mario Bros 1, a Microwave oven and a copy of Mario is Missing

yes, it's true, but it will only work on a next gen OS, like RedhatXP Pro 64 type-R, or MacOS Y (codename moggy)...
