After the AVit NA San Francisco, the core organizers began formulating the plans for an AVit Retreat, which would be a more decentralized and non-venue specific event, that would be used as a work shop for building a community audio/video theme, performing of the collaboratively created material, and possibly taking the finished performance on the road...

Voila...AVit NA presents AVit Retreat 2005. to be held at the H.A. Ranch, in central Colorado, June 13-17, 2005...

With all that AVit UK and NA and LA and OpenAir represent, this is a thread to take the AVit experience to those who want and need it most, those in your l'bit of existence, wherever it may be...

Pixy, I think the retreat gets to the heart of AVit. AVit is not only for the furtherment of VJing and AV in general, but also about the community of VJs and AVers out there. As far as I can remember that is how AVit came about, through the plans of like-minded individuals on the eyecandy forum, then VJF and VJC, and finally AVit, true?
To me community and sharing are the key words. The idea of regional AVit's, the retreat idea especially, appeals to me as a member because it allows MORE of us to get together and do what it is we claim to love. Not only that, but we get to know one another face-to-face, dance together, and generally share in the joy of the lifestyle we have chosen to lead. The retreat takes it to a new level of intimacy, one in which we can develop lifelong connections with those who share the same passion. What more do you want in life? They say on the deathbed all one thinks of are those whom they shared a relationship, nothing else. That is at the AVit core, IMHO
So pixy, all I have to ask is where is the option that reads:
"AVit retreat could very well revolutionize the way VJs and AVers learn, share, and grow together. Bring on the family unit!"

our "power" (production, gear, knowledge) is exponentially expanded when we collaborate as a unit. I really hope to make avit retreat... but am on such an crazy schedule this coming month... the best I can do is hope and try. so far my schedule is <gasp> still clear...

I've found it's best when some core ideas/concepts have been outlined as far as production goes... and then, we do our lil things in the framework and return to show what we "found" :)
