can't open flash, wmp won't play

do you mean flash player or the full program?

WMP for Mac is def buggy and is not reliable - will not play WMedia files (I am not sure why microsoft even released this thing - since it's sole use is to play those W(i)mp files,{ 'cause QT will play everything else, 'cept indeo in OS X}which it does not do last time I checked) - so stick with Quicktime, IMHO. Yer Flash should work fine. Its either a corrupt flash file or you need to reinstall flash.
