I'm pretty new to all this and was wondering if anyone could give me advice on how to go about creating a vj set up. I have the following equipment:

a pc with the following stats:

pentium 4 2.0 ghz

1.0 ghz ram

Ati Radeon 8500 DV video card with composite/s-video out put and composite/s-video/dv input

Nvidia Riva TNT 2 model 64 video card

80 gig hd

P4 titan motherboard

running windows Xp

I also have 2 vcrs, a digtal video camera, dvd player, sharp digtal projector (model XG-VU2) and an older much slower pc.

As of now I get by with just connecting a vcr (or dvd player) and my pc to a radio shak composite switch box. I just flip between channels of G-force and video tapes/dvds.
I'd like to edit video clips and mix between clips via pc and also mix footage from my camcorder and vcrs/dvd player. I was also hoping to mayeb configure my pc so that my Radeon card would be my main out to my projector and my Nvidia video card on a monitor to preview video before projecting.

What editting software and video mixing software would you suggest?

What hardware should I consider, especially video mixers?

I'm thinking of attending "Full Sail" for their digital mulit-media and film programs. Anyone have any thoughts about this school?

Any suggestions I can dl software from?
