well.......
I don't know what the festi at Barcelona is/was like but I have been talking to a few people, both at vjcentral and hear in Leeds about the idea about seting up a vjcentral gig in England.
Runing along simirler lines as the vjnet gig, workshops and party.
At the moment I'm working on orginising a small vj workshop, for the local comunity, involving basic captureing, editing, and vj'ing skills, which I think could spring bord into a vjcentral gig in september, in conjunction with the Leeds internationel film festi, I've worked with them before, in there fringe section.
At the moment it's just an idea that could become a reality if people are interested in it so any coments, thoughts and surgestions welcome.
unj :)
I'll be at the weekley chat this wednesday 24th, if anyone has any ideas.

I would be more than happy to welcome
the VJ Central Crew to a september gig at Vectors...
Vectors is based at AKA, central London,
every third wednesday of the month.
So in September, that falls on the 18th.
September will be our first aniversary
and I think getting some of VJcentral down to Vectors
would be most welcome.
Anyone interested?
(Addictive TV have just confirmed June with Vectors, BTW)

as this would be vjcentral's first bash it might be wise to keep it relitivley small, funding will play a large part in the size of the gig it's self.
anyone do you rekon that you can get any funding over your way?
one of the reasons for thinking about Leeds was possibel funding from the film festi, the vj thing ties in very well with there new media section, especialy if it involves "hands on" experiance/comunication rarther then just a party, per say.
basicly the place is not to important but we will need someone/group at ground level organising the nuts and bolts of the gig it's self, sorting out most things like funding, venue( about 500-1000 capacity, thou if we got massive funding who knows what we could do :p ) equipment, etc, etc.

Silk, where are you located at?
there are a number of large festiavls
going through out europe this summer
including the boom festival in portugal
(www.boomfestival2002.com)
and a lot of UK vj's were talking about
doing a tent at the glastonbury fest.
(not sure what has become of it)
there is also the sophia, bulgaria fest.
and there is a big one going off in estonia...
Oh did I mention the Psychic Chakra???
hehe, morph you know that I had to throw it in...

I've got also good connections with people at ICA
(Institute of Contemporary Arts, London)
they've got a reputation of showing a lot of club events
and festivals like OneDotZero, Full Length, Laptops Live...
It would seem quite feasable for me
to approach them with a VJForums proposal.
I've also done a few workshops there so
I'm quite familiar with the infrastructure...
tell me what you think,
VJ Ne1:)

I loved the pics of the old cathedral and would be glad to join it this year to ( I hope it's not a one time fest ) ...

Unj,
I had a gig on wednesday...sorry I couldnt do the chat.
but please tell me about
anything interesting that happened at this discussion.
Is there any news about doing VJforums stuff at AKA?
having said that,
I hope you dont view ourselves as competitors
Leeds and London are far away enough from each other
to start thinking of north / south collaborations...
If something happens in your area then mine,
then other parts of england,
maybe nows the time to think of this venture
as a little tour thing?

ahh, sorry you mised the chat anyone, but it sounds like you were haveing a good 'un anyway.
no mate of corse i dont think Leeds and London are in compertition, it was just that to organise a gig like this takes a lot of planing and organization, so some of the dissisions have to be set in to motion prety quickley, ie funding and the like.
I told X i'd send him my noats on the gig and I'll send them on to you too in the next few days, let me know what you think.
:)

the basic idea was that, since unju started to organize most of the gig (and i'm thankful he did!), it made sense to do it in leeds, where a local is definitely needed. a vjcentral tour would be awesome but maybe not a good idea for the first time.
anyway, let's talk about this when unju posts his notes :)

Denimage,
dont skip the hurdles, mate...
if you're talking about performing at Vectors,
we are booking about 3 months ahead...
so even if we booked you now,
that would be for november...
But send us a demo first :)
in the meantime, you're more than welcome
to have a booty shake at Vectors if you coming
down to London...
cheers, NE1
